Importance of Time Management:
Optimum use of available time.
It is the process of planning & exercising conscious
control over the amount of time spent on specific
activity, it increase effectiveness, efficiency &
productivity
It is required to:
 Save time;
Reduce stress;
Increase our work output
       Time Management
Identify time wasters:
•Don’t make yourself overly accessible
•Interruptions
•Be brief not elaborate
•For socialization use tea / coffee breaks
•Get all information before commencement of
work
•Scheduling your priorities, not prioritizing your
schedule
         Time Management
Too many tasks on our schedule. We should
admit that there are always more tasks we
need to do than we think.
Barriers to time management:
•   Too many interruptions
•   Lack of priority
•   Procrastination
•   Fear of failures
         Time Management
•   Indecisiveness
•   Inability to manage crisis
•   Inability to delegate
•   Poor planning
•   Lack of organization
•   Unable to say (NO!)
        Time Management
Time management include:
•   Allow time for planning & establishing
    priorities
•   High priority job to be completed first
    before beginning the next
•   Reprioritize if required

•   Do not postpone work
•   Learn to say “NO”
•   Keep track of your progress
•   Get proper amount of sleep
•   When feasible delegate jobs (mgt. level)
         Task Prioritization
Emergency: Imminent threat to life, property,
security or the environment. Warrants,
immediate response and mitigation – but not
necessarily a permanent repair.
Examples include:
 Downed electrical lines, Broken pipe line, Gas
leaks or small of gas leaks, Major equipment
breakdown, Food service related deficiencies
that have an immediate impact on sanitation,
Certain pest or animal control situations, Fire
Alarm sound.
           Task Prioritization
 Urgent :These situations pose a threat of personal
injury, equipment damage, or a serious disruption.
Whenever possible, urgent work orders should be
completed within 24 hours to mitigate the situation before
injury occurs, equipment or property is damaged, or the
condition worsens.
Examples include:
 Non-emergency repairs / any compliance code
requirements, safety deficiencies, temporary repairs
conducted in an emergency that pose as a threat to
personal injury, no air conditioning or heat in rooms with
sensitive equipment.
        Task Prioritization
Important: Work that does not fit the definition or
urgent work but needs to be accomplished in an
time frame. Such work may be high profile in
nature, have a short deadline date, usually
warrants an expedited response, ideally within 24
to 48 hours.
Examples include:
Preparing for load/discharge, Passage plan
        Task Prioritization
 Routine : Normal maintenance or service item that
does not pose an immediate risk to facilities,
systems, equipment or components Due to
increased work loads , work to be completed within
24 hours to 30 days.
     Examples include:
Painting, Drills, Maintenance work
