NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION
Area and Location
The national Capital Region (NCR) is comprised of
the city of Manila the capial city of the Philliphines
and 14 other cities and two municipalities in the
suroounding areas. Manila itself occupies a mere
38.3 squere kilometers. The NCR is not only the
prime tourist center of the philliphine
culture,art,education,commerce,industryand
tourism. It is bordered by Manila bay on the west,
Laguna de bay on the south, the Marikina Valey
and the Sierra Madre on the eas, and the large and
fertile plains of Central Luzon on the north.
Geographic Profile
Metro Manila is surounded by large bodies of
water, plains, valleys, and mountains. It has a
landlocked bay and harbor for domestic and
foriegn vessels, country's social,
economic,andpolitical activities.
People
In 2007, the population of Metro Manila
was about 11.553 million. English is widley
spoken andis the basic language in
business, government, school, and everyday
communications. Filipino, base on tagalog
dialect, is the national language.
HOW TO GET THERE!!!
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the
Centrnnial Airport, the international gateways of
the country, are located in Metro Manil. Another
international airport Terminal 3, located inside the
former Villamor Airbase. Near NAIA is the
Domestic Airport Terminal 3, where there are
dialy fligths to and from the deferent provinces in
the counrty. By land, the main entrypoints to
Metro Manila are the North and South
Expressway. By sea, the North and South Harbor
in Manila bay serve as the main port for domestic
and foriagns vessels.
Kalookan City
Area and location
Kalokan City is located at the northern part of the Greater
Manila Area. The ciy is divided ito two part. an urban
section and rural section.The urban section is bounded on
the north by Malabon on the east by Quezon City, on the
south by Manila and Navotas, and on the west by Manila
Bay. The rural section is bunded on the north by San Jose
del Monte in Bulacan, on the east and south by Quezon
City, and on west by Valezuela. The urban section, also
known as Kalookan I. has an area of 1,362.4916 hectares.
The rural section, known as Kalookan II, is located
approximately nine kilometers north of Kallokan I and has
an area of 3,970.9048h hectares.
Geogrphic Profile
Kalokan I is comprised mainly of flat lands, its
highest point is the southernmost part of the
dagat-dagatan Reclamation Area, which is only
+0.0993 meters above sea level. Kalookan II is
classified as hilly, its highest point is Tala,which
rises approximately 100 meters above sea
level.

Area and Location
Las Pinas is bounded by Paranaque City on the north
and northeast, Muntinlupa City on the east and
southeast, by Imus, Cavite on the south and, by
Bacoor, Cavite on the west and southwest.
Geographic Profile
Las Pinas cinsists of three zones, namely the Manila
Bay area the Costal Margin, and Guadalope plateau.

Makati City
Area and location
Makati City faces the City of Mandaloyong. It is bound by the
Pasig River on the north, by the Municipality of Pateros on the
east, by the Manila on the northwest , and by Pasay on the south.
Geographic Profile
The Pasig River flows around the northern and easthern borders
of this city, which is known as the commercial and financial
center of the country. Along Ayala Avenue, Makati is a City of
skyscrapers. Just across are the posh villages of Forbes Park and
Dasmarinas alongside Fort Bonifacio.

Buses jeepney, taxis, and tricycle for Makati City are available in
many parts of metro Manila.

Area and Location
Malabon is a coastal city situated in the northern part of
the Greater Manila Area. it is bounded on the north and
northeast by Valenzuela. on the west and southwest by
Navotas, and on the southwest by, Kalookan City.The city
has a total land area of 1,576.97 hectars, 3.70 percent of
the total ;ad area Metro Manila.
Geographic Profile
The terrian is generally flat with slopes ranging from
zero to five percent.
How to Get There

are avialable in any parts of Metro Manila.

Mandaluyong is a heart-shaped, 26-kilometer
tract of hand lying seven kilometers southeast
of Manila and eigth kilometers, west of Pasig.
To the south lies Makati, to yhe northwest San
Juan, and to the northwest Quezon city.
Geographic Profile
Mandaluyong is now considered one of the
most urbanized areas of the NCR, a busiess
and commercial center like the cities of
Makati and Pasig.

CITY OF MANILA
Area and Location
The City of Manila has an area of 38.3 square kilometers, it
is located onthe west coast of the island of luzon.
Geographic Profile
Fertile plains suround Manila, which straddles the delta of
the Pasig River, a short navigable river that connects the
fresh water lake of Laguna de Bay with Manila Bay and the
south china sea.

This ecclesiatical musuem was set up in 1987 by Jaime Cardinal Sin with the
theme History of the “Catholic Church in the Philliphines” The collection
includes acclesiastical liturgical, and various antique items.
Binondo Church
Plaza Dela Basco,Binondo
Founded by the Dominican Friars in 1596, this church is a fine example of
spanish colonial architecture. it was badly damaged during World War II and
was only restored in 1972. Only the octagonal bell tower and some
foundations remain of the original structure.
Marikina City
Area and Location
Marikina is located on the eastern side of Metro
Manila. It is bounded by Rizal on the east
Queazon City on the west, and Pasig City on
south.
Geographic Profile
Marikina City is situated in a valley in between
the muontains of Moltalban and hinger area of
Quezon City. Its rich and fertile soil is suitable for
farming, but now Marikina is an urbanized area
with numerous commercial centers. Its farm
lands have been converted into residential areas.

The River Park was estabished in an effort to rivive and beautify the Marikina River, It

Muntinlupa City
Area and Location
Muntinlupa is located at the southwestern part of
Metropolitan Manila, bounded in the north by
Taguig, on the northwest by Parañque, on the west
by Las Piñas, on the southwest by Laguna,on the
east by Laguna de Bay. It has a land area of about
4,670 hectars, the largest in Metropolitan Manila
area.
Goegraphic Profile
This city is not as thickly populated as the other
cities in the NCR.
Alabang Town Center

This commercial center is frequented by the residents of Ayala-
Alabang Village becuase of its proximity to the residential area.

Area and Location
Prañaque is bounded by Taguig on the east,
Marikina City on the north, Pasay City, and
Pateros on the northwest.
Geographic Profile
Parañaque is an urban area with large
residential and commercail areas.

Saint Andrews's Church
Prañaque City
This church is the oldest religious edifice in Prañaque, dating back to
the16th century. It houses the revered and now popular icon of the
Nuestra Señora de Madre de Dios de Buen Suceso.
Pasay City
Area and Location
Pasay is bounded on the south by Parañaque, on the
northwest by Makati City, and on the west by Taguig. The city
has a total land area 19 square kilometers.
Geogrphic Profile
Pasay City is the third smallest political subdivision in the
National Capital Region. The Air Tranportation Office.
(formerly CAA) occupies 9.5 square kilometers, which
include the Ninoy Aquino Internatinal Airport(NAIA), the
Villamor Air Base, and a reclamation area. The City is known
as a center for entertainment. A section located along Roxas
Buolevard fronting Manila Bay is in f known as Manila's
tourist belt.
Mall of Asia
The site is a huge shopping complex that is now frequented
by both foreign and domestic tourists. It is also facing the
famed Manila Bay which makes it an ideal promenade area.

Pasig City
Area and Location
Pasig is approximately 12 kilometers east-south-east of
Manila with a total land area of 3,100 hectares or
approximately 31 square kilometers. It is bounded on
the north by Quezon City and Marikina, on the east by
Cainta and Taytay, on the west by Mandaluyong, and
on the south by Pateros and Taguig.
Geographic Profile
Of the city's total land area, 85 percent is for
residential institutional, commercail, and industrial
use. Only 15 percent of total land area is used for
agriculture.

Area and Location
Quezon City is located 10 kilometers north of Manila. to
the city's east are San Mateo (Rizal) and Marikina to the

cities of Pasig and Mandaluyong. Quezon City has a land
area of 15,359 hectars.It is five times bigger than Manila
in area and is actually the ciuntry's second biggest city.
Geographic Profile
Rolling hills characterize the terrain of a large portion of
quezon City. its lowest itude is 25 feet above sea level,
while its hingest is 55.

Taguig City
Area and location
The first-class municipality of taguig is situated along the
northwestern shore of Laguna de Bay at the upper mouth
of the legendary Pasig River, also known as the Napindan
Channel thrugh which Laguna drains its floodwaters. It is
buonded to the nirth by Pateros and Pasig on the east by
the town of Taytay and Laguna Lake on the south by
Laguna Lake and the town of Muntinlupa and on the
west by Parañaque, Makati and Pasay City. It has a total
land area of 4,583.2 hectars (45,382 square kilometers).
A large part of Taguig City is now a major business and
commercial area which can rival that of Makati City;s
Geographic Profile
The terrain is generally, level with some parts
rolling or hilly. Taguig is traversed by two
major rivers that feed the Laguna Lake,
namely. The Taguig River and the Napindan
Channel. Five minor rivers also flow through it
the Bagumbayan River, the Mauling
Creek/Tabacuhan Creek, the Hagonoy River ,
the Tipas River/Labasan River, and the Sta. Ana
River.

The town of Valezuela is situated in the
northern part of the Greater Manila Area. It is

Navotas. It has a total land area of 44,60
square kilometers.

The terrain is generally flat to sligthly rolling.

Arae and Location
Navotas is a small fishing town located in the
northwestern portion of Metropolitan Manila. It is
bounded by the town of Obando in Bulacan on the north,
by the Binuangan River, the Navotas River, the Bangkulasi
Channel, the Malabon Channel, and the Estero de Maypajo
on the eat, by Manila on the south, and by Manila Bay on
the west. The town has an aggregate land area of 10.77
square kilometers
Geographic Profile
Navotas is actually an island system with an aggregate
shoreline of approximately 4.5 kilometers fronting the
Manila Bay. The terrain is generally flat.
Navotas Fish Port

Navotas is inhabited by small-time fishermen as well as big-time trawlers who
own the most modern sophisticated fishing boats in the country today. The
fish are sold in a modern market complex known as the Navotas fishery Port.
Pateros
Area and Location
Pateros is situated in the northern bank of the
Pasig River. It ia bounded on the south by
Taguig, on the east by Pasig and Taguig, on the
west by the Pateros River, on the north by the
Pasig River, on the northwest by Makati.
Geographic Profile
Pateros is highly suited for urban development
due to its flat terrain ang good internal and
external drianage. About 63 percent is
agricultural Land. The rest are taken up by the
Alfombra Slippers
Slipper manufucturing is one of the specialties of the people
oPateros. Store outlets arealong M. Almeda and B. Morilla streets.
San Juan
Area and Location
San Juan, situated in the central part of Metropolitan
Manila, is one of the smallest of Metro Metro Manila's nine
municipalities. It is bounded in the north by Quezon City,
in the west by Manila, and in the aouth bd east by
Mandaluyong. It has a land area of 5.94 square kilometers.
Geographic Profile
Generally, San Juan has a sligthly rooling terrain. However,
the western part near the San Juan River is low abd
frequantly damaged by floods. The municipality is actually
sorruounded by a river anf creeks. San Juan River in the
west, Ermitaño Creek in the north and east, and Maytunas
Creek in the south.
