Seminar Of: foundation of enterprise information system
information system
A business application of the computer. It is made up of the database, application programs and manual and machine procedures. It also encompasses the computer systems that do the processing.
information system (cont)
The term information system refers to information technology that is used by people to accomplish a specified organizational or individual objective. The technology may be used in the gathering, processing, storing, and/or dissemination of information, and the users are trained in the use of that technology, as well as in the procedures to be followed in doing so. The specific technologies that collectively comprise information technology are computer technology and data communications technology. Computers provide most of the storage and processing capabilities, while data communicationsspecifically networksprovide the means for dissemination and remote access of information Advances in computer hardware, software, and networking technologies have spurred an evolution in the structure, design, and use of corporate information systems
Information technology
is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." Encompassing the computer and information systems industries, information technology is the capability to electronically input, process, store, output, transmit, and receive data and information, including text, graphics, sound, and video, as well as the ability to control machines of all kinds electronically.
Information technology (cont)
Information technology is comprised of computers, networks, satellite communications, robotics, videotext, cable television, electronic mail ("email"), electronic games, and automated office equipment. The information industry consists of all computer, communications, and electronicsrelated organizations, including hardware, software, and services. Completing tasks using information technology results in rapid processing and information mobility, as well as improved reliability and integrity of processed information.
Relationship between systems

What is a System?
The figure above explain that the local systems effect and affect with the environmental which it contain in , and the change in economics system or social or cultural will leave influence on local system considering it work throw (open system) and what's launch (out put) whether from services or another will leave aftereffect & repercussions on the environmental which it work in and accordingly will effect on economics , social and cultural systems.
What is a System? (cont)
A system is a group of interrelated components working together toward a common goal by accepting inputs and producing outputs in an organized transformation process.
Information system resources
There is five major resources: People , hardware , software, data, networks People resources include end user and IS specialists. End users are people who use an information system or information it produces, they can be customers , salesperson, engineers, clerks, accountants or managers. Knowledge workers :people who spend most of their time communicating and collaborating in teams and workgroups and creating , using , and distributing information. Is specialists : are people who develop and operate information system.

Hardware Resources : Include physical devices and materials used in information processing not only machines like computers or optical scanners, but also media like plastic cards or optical desk. Software Resources: Include all sets of information processing instructions which mean not only programs but procedures that people need
Data Resources: product description, customer records, employee files , inventory database.
