Are you ready to step up your sticker game? Making custom stickers with Canva and Silhouette CAMEO is easier than you think!

In this blog post, I'll share my best tricks for how to make stickers with Canva and Silhouette CAMEO.

Canva is awesome because not only is it a free design platform that is easy to use but it offers lots of free designs AND you can export in lots of different file types that Silhouette Studio likes.

Start by opening up Canva and click "Create a Design."

Select the "Custom Dimensions" option or type in a page size. I just searched "A4" and used the blank sheet, but you can do whatever size you want and you can always change the size later.

Click the Elements button on the left and type in a search term. I wanted to make a set of Easter stickers so I typed that and then clicked "Graphics" to avoid getting unwanted photograph results, etc.

You can add as many designs as you want and size and position them as you'd like.

Once you have your sticker set all ready, you'll want to export it so you can use it in Silhouette CAMEO. To export from Canva, simply click on the "Share" button and select the Download option.

Select PNG as the File Type.

This will save your design as a high-resolution image that you can use in Silhouette CAMEO. Be sure to check the box for "Transparent" so you don't get a white background.

This will allow Silhouette Studio to autotrace the stickers which will put a cut line around the edge only once you import into Silhouette Studio.

Open up Silhouette Studio and import your design by going to "File" and then "Open."

Select the image that you just saved from Canva.

Be sure to go to the Page Setup panel and change the page size to "Printer" and then add registration marks.

From here you'll continue with printing and cutting like you normally would.

Of course I always use Online Labels sticker paper to get the best quality and color stickers!

  1. The Free Canva Account doesn't offer the graphics that you sampled. All the Easter themed graphics are only available with a Paid Upgrade : (

    1. Update: I was able to find a few that were free!

  2. Was disappointed that nearly all of the graphics are pro? What does free mean then?

  3. I thought the transparent option was only in canva pro?

    1. I tested it and yes you have to have canva pro for transparent background so this isn't a free canva option.

  4. Transparent background is not an option in the free version as far as I can see. If you have several graphics on a page they just download as a full page and you cannot separate or resize the individual graphics.

  5. If you save as a PDF you can import into Silhouette and ungroup images then resize and edit as you need.

  6. I was also disappointed to read this article and find out that it actually isn't free to use. If you want any or the really cute images you have to have Canva Pro. This should NOT have been touted as a free program it should have been noted that she was using a paid subscription. Very misleading article.

  7. I don't know what I am doing wrong but when I upload into Silhouette Studio, I'm not getting the cut lines. I'm getting a square cut line around the entire thing.

  8. Just remove background in any other program on your computer and save. Stop complaining!
