Force is a push or pull that can cause motion or acceleration. It is measured in Newtons and all forces are interactions between objects. The net force is calculated by adding forces in the same direction and subtracting forces in opposite directions, with an unbalanced net force producing motion.
Force is a push or pull with a size and direction. Motion requires force. Not all forces cause motion.
Force is measured in Newtons (N), with higher values indicating greater force. A spring scale measures gravity force.
In the same direction, add forces: 20N + 25N = 45N. This net force is unbalanced and produces motion.
In opposite directions, subtract forces: 25N - 10N = 15N. This net force is unbalanced and produces motion.
In opposite directions, if forces are equal: 37N - 37N = 0N. This net force is balanced, resulting in no motion.
