JESUS CHRIST
THE MESSIAH
Nativity of Jesus
• Date of Birth of Jesus: Between 6 BC
and 4 BC
• Place of Birth of Jesus: Bethlehem
(Israel)
• Parents of Jesus: Joseph and Marry
History of Birth of Jesus
One day about 2,000 years ago an angel named
Gabriel appeared to a young Jewish woman named
Mary. She told Marry she would have a SON OF
GOD.
Marry had faith in God and said ,”I am the Lord’s
servant; let it be as you say.”
Journey to Bethlehem
• Marry and her husband-to-be ,Joseph, lived
in a town called Nazareth . But they had to
travel to the city of BETHLEHEM to register
for a census ordered by the Roman emperor,
Caesar Augustus.
• Both Nazareth and Bethlehem are the country
now called ISRAEL.
Journey to Bethlehem
• It is about 65 miles (105 km) from Nazareth to
Bethlehem, and the trip probably took them
several days. When Joseph and Mary got to
Bethlehem, there was no place for them to
stay because the inn was already full. They
ended up spending the night in a stable, a
place where animals were kept. There was
probably fresh hay on the floor that they used
for beds
That night, Jesus was born. There was no crib, so
they laid baby Jesus in a manger, a feeding trough for
animals. The manger probably had fresh hay in it and
made a nice bed for the baby
Shepherds Visit Jesus
• That night, some shepherds were in the fields
near Bethlehem, keeping watch over their
flocks of sheep. An angel appeared to them
and gave them the good news that a Savior,
the Messiah, had been born. The angel told
the shepherds they could find Jesus lying in a
manger. Suddenly a whole group of angels
appeared saying, "Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"
Wise Men Visit Jesus
Wise Men Visit Jesus
• Some time later, wise men, or magi, from
eastern countries saw a star in the sky that
signaled the birth of a new king. They came to
Judea, the region around Jerusalem and
Bethlehem, to worship Jesus, the new king. A
man named Herod was the king of Judea. He
called the wise men to a meeting and told
them to find the new king so he could go and
worship him, too.
Wise Men Visit Jesus
• The wise men continued on to Bethlehem and
followed the star until it was directly above
the house where Jesus was. They found Mary
and Jesus in the house and knelt down to
worship Him. They brought Jesus gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh, some of the finest
things in the ancient world. Frankincense was
burned to make a sweet smell, and myrrh was
an expensive perfume.
JESUS JOURNEY
JESUS JOURNEY
• Jesus was born into a Jewish family and
remained faithful to Judaism all His life.
• Jesus spent his youth and early adulthood in
the city of Nazareth, in the land of Galilee.
• At about age 30, Jesus was baptized in the
River Jordan by John the Baptist and began His
public ministry. He selected 12 disciples who
would carry on his ministry after Him.
JESUS JOURNEY
• He traveled through the regions of Galilee,
Samaria, and Judea, teaching in the
synagogues and speaking to the crowds of
people who followed wherever He went.
• He preached about the kingdom of God,
repentance, and love for all people. The
gospels tell how He healed the sick wherever
He went and performed many other miracles.
JESUS JOURNEY
JESUS JOURNEY
• Jesus' public ministry lasted about three years,
and He found many followers among the Jews
of Palestine.
• However, He had enemies, too.
• Jesus was very critical of the hypocrisy of the
religious leaders of His time
• He said they observed the letter of the Jewish
law, but defiled its spirit by living lives of greed
and sin
JESUS JOURNEY
• These religious leaders plotted to kill Jesus, and
eventually forced the Roman governor, Pilate, to
order His crucifixion on Friday, the eve of
Passover, in about the year 30 A.D.
• The Bible tells that Jesus arose from the dead on
the following Sunday, and He remained on Earth
another 40 days before ascending into heaven.
Jesus, Himself, said He was the Son of God, the
Christ, the Messiah awaited by the Jews. He said
His death and resurrection were all part of God's
mysterious plan of salvation.
JESUS JOURNEY
Jesus the Savior
For those who have accepted the gift of faith, Jesus is
much more than a historical figure and a good teacher.
He is the Christ, the Savior, the Son of God, who came
to Earth to redeem us from sin, establish His spiritual
kingdom of God on Earth, and to offer the promise of
eternal life. Although He is not now on Earth in bodily
form, He is present with us through the power of the
Holy Spirit. He is our guide and savior, the source of all
our strength, who will lead us through this earthly life
and into eternal life beyond. We can talk to Him in
prayer. He speaks to us through the Bible and our
consciences. He strengthens us with His love.
JESUS PRAYER
• Prayer is the opening of one’s heart and soul
in a conversation with GOD , and thus is an
expression of faith in a relationship with GOD.
Humility is the foundation of prayer, as we learn
in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax
collector.
Jesus teaches us to pray ,“All that you ask for in
prayer believe that you will receive it and it
shall be yours.”
THE LORD’S PRAYER
• Our Father Who Art In Heaven,
• Hallowed Be thy Name.
• Thy Kingdom Come.
• Thy Will Be Done On Earth As it is in Heaven.
• Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread,
• And Forgive Us Our Trespasses,
• As we Forgive those who Trespass against us,
• And lead us not Into Temptation,
• But deliver us from Evail.
Thank you
