One of the things that I always wanted to do was to learn how to touch type. My goal wasn’t getting super fast at typing, just capable.

By now, I don’t even remember how long it took nor the exact process I did, but now I can do it. Yeah, I’m not perfect at it; I make mistakes all the time. But I’m also decent at quickly correcting, either by the classic backspace or just Control + backspace to delete the whole word if I made the mistake too far back (more than three or four letters from where my cursor currently is).

One thing I had to overcome was the thinking that I could just type as if I was playing the piano by floating my hand over the keyboard. I can’t. Maybe some can, but I don’t really know anyone in real life that does. Using a wrist rest is the best thing for me to get consistency in my typing.

Right now, I’m supervising a group of up to 64 people at any given time if any of the other supervisors is not around or needs to leave to do something else. One thing I have noticed that really hampers any of my team’s performance is typing. People that can’t touch type are considerably slower at their actions per minute than the ones that can. If it was up to me, I would require a certain minimum of words per minute to be able to work with the team and some time in the least busy hours to get into Monkeytype or Typeracer to practice and train their typing so they can get better at it. If you still can’t touch type, I really recommend that you hop into any of these sites to force yourself to acquire the skill. Once you do, it feels like a super power. You become one with the computer.

There’s been many changes since I stopped posting frequently over here. I was the Head Operations Manager at a nicotine products company in 2024 and then due to regulatory changes I decided to continue my technology focused career by focusing in IT again. Right now I’m a Fiber Solutions Subject Matter Expert for one of the biggest ISP in the north-east of the US. I hope you are also putting your talents to good use too.

There are some everyday English sentences that make me turn my head like a puppy trying to figure out what their owner is saying to them. Right now I can think of two examples of this:

  • “It broke my mental”
  • “I decided to embrace my masculine”

Aren’t these two examples missing something? My brain always feels like I’ve been sent an incomplete message with this type of sentences. I might be wrong but this is how I feel.

Update: I decided to pass this status through ChatGPT and this is what it concluded after a painfully over explained response:

Your intuition is spot-on. Those sentences are missing something by traditional grammar rules, which is why they sound incomplete. But in certain modern or informal contexts, they’re purposefully truncated for style, rhythm, or identity expression.

And now I don’t care about the syntax errors in those expressions but how triggered it’s sycophantic responses get me. Anyways… Have fun.

A generalist is a person who possesses a broad range of knowledge, skills, and aptitudes across multiple fields or disciplines, rather than specializing deeply in just one area. Generalists are able to adapt to various roles and tasks, often excelling at learning new things and performing a variety of functions within organizations or teams. In contrast to specialists, who focus on a single subject or skill, generalists are valued for their versatility and ability to see connections across different domains.

Generalists in Mexican society are cursed. In Mexico there is a tendency to acquire a specialized degree and only focus on that for your professional advancements. The rest of the day is usually spent with the family, celebrations and hanging out. Generalists that spend most of their life’s pursuing diverse knowledge and skills are so far from the zeitgeist that not only they are not appreciated, they are totally misunderstood and even hated for not following the implicit rules in this society. There are many reasons why Mexico is so underdeveloped compared to other great nations but one of them is the historical preference of class and academic compliance over general intelligence. This doesn’t seem to change any time soon and I’m very disappointed.

Fixing Intel XTU for Skylake CPU under Windows 11

I was having issues running the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility in my Windows 11 System. It installed fine but when trying to launch it I got a message saying that it was unable to run because there was another application or process monitoring the CPU. After several tries across different days I decided to dig deeper using Perplexity.ai

I didn’t get an immediate solution but after the first inquiry I got clues of what was wrong so I’m writing this guide to help other users that may be running into the same issue under similar system conditions.
