Trivia[edit]
- During the registration period, MAJOR UPSET reached the supermajor tier for Ultimate on the UltRank 2023 methodology, leading to jokes that the tournament should be renamed to "SUPERMAJOR UPSET."[2] Unfortunately, due to several top player dropouts, the tournament's tier was dropped down.
- Major placed first in the Ganon Gauntlet singles bracket for Ultimate.
- The tournament was not named after the player in actuality, despite him living in the same region.
- Cody Schwab's first place finish in Melee singles marks Counter Logic Gaming's first major Melee tournament win.
- The organization was announced to be sold off the day afterwards, and Cody Schwab was dropped three days after the win.
- This tournament marked FatGoku's final event as a competitor, as she had previously stated her plans to retire from competition in Melee singles afterwards.
- This tournament marks:
- the first time that MkLeo has lost an Ultimate major after starting Grand Finals in winner's side.
- the first time that MkLeo has lost an Ultimate event after starting Grand Finals in winner's since EGS Cup.
- the first time that MkLeo lost any Smash major from Grand Finals in winner's side since DreamHack Austin 2017.
