These are the things currently occupying my attention in no particular order…
- It’s been a while since I updated this page. Since then, my city and state (The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul) have been under siege by agents of our federal government who are operating without regard for constitutional rights or the rule of law under the guise of immigration enforcement. But they are detaining and disappearing (as in, literally taking people on untracked flights out of the country to god knows where) many who are here legally. They are also detaining US citizens, children, and those not charged with any crime — many sent to detention centers outside of the state. It is abhorrent, anti-democratic, unconstitutional, and against everything we purport to stand for as a nation. There is no Left or Right here — only right and wrong. Choose your side.

I’ll be taking a brief trip with Beatrix this long weekend — our first with just the two of us — to do a followup college visit (admitted students day) to Lake Forrest in Illinois. We’ll be staying overnight in Chicago. Looking forward to it. Hopefully, I’ll get Beatrix behind the wheel on the highway for part of the journey.
