I once witnessed a poignant moment during a safari when a bull elephant tried to separate a newborn from its mother. The baby’s distressed cries prompted the herd to immediately surround and shield the little one, their trunks reaching out in a comforting embrace. This powerful display of love and protection was captured in a photograph that holds special significance for me.

My wife and our baby were with me during this event, and while they were touched by the beauty of the moment, the initial sight of the baby elephant’s distress was difficult for them. Just as we were about to leave, I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the heartwarming scene of the elephant family encircling the newborn. Without hesitation, I turned the car around and captured a single photograph that has become a cherished memory for us all.

I hadn't noticed her at first because she was facing us. My heart began to race, my senses were heightened, and a wave of excitement washed over me. I'd always wanted to capture a fine art wildlife photograph of an elephant with long tusks, but I assumed it would be a bull. I'd never seen a female elephant with longer tusks than this matriarch

Standing alone in the presence of a Kalahari black mane lion, one can't help but feel a primal fear take hold, even as they try to reassure themselves that they're safe. That unsettling feeling lingers, deep in the mind, even after the encounter has passed. Capturing the raw power and awe-inspiring beauty of these magnificent lions with black manes in a photograph is a remarkable feat, and a print of a Kalahari black mane lion is a piece of art that will leave a lasting impression on any viewer.

The Matriarch had the longest tusks I had ever seen on a female elephant.

It is the most amazing and humbling experience to be in such proximity to an elephant herd. The elephants were all around us, and they were relaxed, and so were we. 

The moment I had hoped for, silently began to unfold in front of me,

The Matriarch turned towards me, and we were eye to eye, as she reached for another bunch of grass. One of my guests, let a small yelp of delight as a baby elephant nearby reached its trunk towards her. The Matriarch reacted by extending her ears; at that moment all the elements needed to create a compelling portrait came together, the Matriarch was front on, eye to eye, ears out, trunk slight curled at the tip, I held my breath, and pressed the shutter. I breathed a sigh of both relief and joy.

This captivating black-and-white print features a massive old tusker elephant in Amboseli during his final afternoon. One of his tusks is broken, while the other remains impressively long, a testament to his age and battles. His skin, covered in mud and foliage from the marshes, reveals deep creases and folds that highlight his immense size and strength. Despite his age, his powerful trunk still hangs heavy as he slowly ambles behind the herds, heading toward the forests at the base of Kilimanjaro. “This was my one chance, and I may never see this many huge bull elephants together again.”

I composed the wildlife photograph in my viewfinder and waited. I needed one thing to make the image work—the lead bull elephant to open and flap its ears. As the elephants approached, they began to fill my frame, and then the lead massive bull flapped its ears to cool down. I pressed the shutter, and my heart jumped for joy” I had created an impressive black and white wildlife photography print.

The journey to capture this image was filled with anticipation and moments of despair. For days, I scoured the vast landscape in search of this particular herd of over thirty elephants. Just as hope was waning, on the final day of my self-drive photographic safari, fortune smiled upon me. From a distance, I spotted the herd and quickly made my way to a nearby waterhole on a small plateau. Although I missed them drinking, my spirits lifted as I watched the elephants begin to move in my direction.

Seizing the moment, I positioned my vehicle parallel to the ridge and set up my camera, ensuring every detail was perfect. With the dust and sand creating an ethereal atmosphere, the elephants aligned perfectly along the ridge's spine. I pressed the shutter, immortalizing this fleeting moment in "Elephant Ridge." In an instant, the alignment was gone, but the image captured a timeless scene that will forever resonate with me.

The Masai Mara is one of the most wondrous wildernesss left on Earth. It's an expanse of rolling hills and open savanna dotted with acacia trees ... in summer the land is a sea of rolling green. It's January and rains have arrived unexpectedly. The sky is filled with fluffy clouds and the air smells of wet earth. The trees have luscious leaves and Giraffes will walk miles to sample the leafy delights. They are so spoiled for choice that they move on quickly to sample nearby trees making it difficult to photograph them ... but I did eventually and I love this print .. there is peaceful tranquillity that touches the soul .. a tree a giraffe clouds and a sea of grass ... simplicity at its best fine Art Wildlife Photography

The most beautiful specimen of a white rhino that I have seen.. he was a pleasure to photograph, he posed for a few minutes, showed his flank and front, wonderful light A wonderful black and white art print.

Najin and Fatu—mother and daughter, the last surviving northern white rhinos on Earth—roam the wilds here on Ol Pejeta. But a new scientific advancement means the mother and daughter may not be the last of their kind. 

Recent breakthroughs by the BioRescue Project have injected a glimmer of hope for the northern whites. The team of pioneering scientists and conservationists have developed a new approach using advanced assisted reproductive technologies to produce northern white rhino embryos. The plan is to transfer those embryos to a surrogate southern white rhino. 

Last year the team succeeded in obtaining the world’s first pregnancy in a rhino after a southern white rhino embryo transfer. The embryo was produced in-vitro from collected egg cells and sperm. This remarkable achievement is a cornerstone in the mission to save the northern white rhino as it proves the process works and now it will be possible to take this crucial step – an embryo transfer with a northern white rhino embryo – for the first time.

In the heart of the Mara region, two remarkable cheetah brothers, sons of the venerable Rosetta, grace the vast African landscape. On my recent photo safari in Kenya, my client and I stumbled upon a lion pride, peacefully dozing by the side of a dirt road. While we hoped for the Lake Nakuru cliché image of lions resting on the branches of a Fever tree, this encounter held its own magic. As the sun dipped below the horizon and the first raindrops fell, a young male stirred from his slumber. In a mesmerizing moment, he sat up, turned, and locked eyes with my lens—a fleeting yet captivating gaze that I managed to immortalize. After a few graceful stretches, he joined the rest of the pride, their collective attention fixed on potential prey in the nearby distance.

The Cape buffalo is an incredibly majestic animal with a distinct appearance, including a large and powerful build, massive curved horns, and a thick and shaggy black coat. The buffalo is known for its aggressive and unpredictable behaviour, earning it the nicknames of "widowmaker" and "black death". Despite this reputation, the Cape buffalo symbolises strength and resilience, and my wildlife photography portrait perfectly captures his essence. My black and white print of the Elephant Family, titled "Ubuntu," is a stunning work of art that captures the beauty and majesty of these incredible creatures. The Kalahari Lions of Tswalu

The Kalahari black-maned Lion is named Norman, not a very exciting name, and he and his brother, his cousin, called Zwaai were a very successful coalition of lions with black mane at Addo Game Reserve in South Africa. Norman was born in Addo in June 2008, and Zwaai in August 2008; they shared a father, Jack, but a different mother.

Despite their reputation as scavengers, hyenas are actually skilled hunters and will often chase down and kill their own prey. They are also very opportunistic and will eat just about anything they can get their jaws on.

Hyenas are found in a wide range of habitats throughout Africa and parts of Asia. There are four species of hyena, including the spotted hyena, the striped hyena, the brown hyena, and the aardwolf.

The Result Was A Perfect Moment Of Natural Beauty Captured In A Photograph.

I had always dreamed in my mind’s eye of capturing this wonderful moment “He stands before me in all his magnificence, raising his trunk filled with red Kalahari dust. In one fluid movement, he sprays his forehead, and for one brief moment, he is covered in the magic of dust and light.”
