The Former Broadway Theater, Westside Of 9th & Broadway-1920's This theater opened in the 1880's/early 1890's as the the Tacoma Opera House. It changed owners & names numerous times, the last of which was the Music Box Theater. Unfortunately a fire broke out & destroyed the building in the mid 1960's.

Barbary Coast Gent at the Globe, 45th to 46th Streets and Broadway, 1944 This "small theater" was originally the Broadway entrance of a 1,475-seat space that became, in 1957, the Lunt-Fontanne. From 1935 until its conversion, the theater played muscular movies like Barbary Coast Gent. The Globe's renovation involved doing away with the Broadway entrance —and, of course, its painted sign. (There was a second Globe on 42nd Street, but that's a story for another time.)
