Overwintering is a comic/collage drawing/journal entry about climate change, adaptation, and the future of life on earth. It's composed of panels and shapes, filled with textures, scenes, creatures, habitats- scattered over these elements are segments of handwritten text. This is my first zine composed entirely with rapidograph ink pen- it's shaded with stippling, lines, and deep black shadows. The zine itself is hand bound with black thread, quarter size, measuring 5.5 by 4.25 inches, and is available in several colors of paper. These subjects are things I think about a lot, and often incorporate in my work in less direct ways- I've hesitated in the past to share these reflections, worried that I'd only contribute to others' anxieties, or not have anything original to say.
