Basically this original room (prior to someone making 2 rooms into 1 big room) was smaller, so the change in floor level was never an issue. However, I wanted the 2 finished bedrooms to be a little more equal in size. I came up with the idea of making a built-in bed to disguise the fact that there is a change in floor level. At the front are IKEA fridge cabinets with drawers, then the change in floor level is right behind it. There was still a bit of space between the upper floor level and these IKEA cabinets. So, rather than cover it up and have a hollow space, we decided to make some storage out of it. Yes it’s going to be under a mattress, but we won’t access it often. These are seriously the top of the top BEST drawer slides. Ask any cabinet maker! Full extension, soft close, and the sliding is so buttery smooth. Why did I wait so long to use these myself for a DIY project?! TBH, I was VERY intimidated to buy and install these because they just look and seem overwhelming to install.. which is why I prob always opted for side mount slides in my previous DIY projects. But they’re actually fairly easy to install! I hope this little tutorial breaks it down easily for you and gives you the confidence to try these out! If I can do it, so can you!
