I’ve been absolutely loving crispy chilli oil the past few weeks and I’ve been busy thinking of ways to incorporate it into a recipe 👀

It brings lovely heat and flavour to the sticky sauce coating crispy chunks of marinated tofu! It gives major fakeaway vibes, perfect for trying over the weekend 😍

If you’re a tofu skeptic, I have a feeling this recipe might convince you, I honestly can’t tell you how DELISH it was 🤤

Recipe serves 2
For the tofu:
1 x 280g block of extra firm tofu, drained
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp dark soy sauce

3 spring onions, sliced

For the sauce:
1 1/2 tbsp light soy
1 tbsp dark soy
2 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp crispy chilli oil (more if you like it spicy!)
1 t Crispy Chilli Oil, Garlic Tofu, Sticky Sauce, Dark Soy Sauce, Chilli Oil, Marinated Tofu, Firm Tofu, Crispy Fry, Crispy Tofu

this tofu has been a firm fave I always return to for yearrrrrs- it was actually one of my of recipes when I first started doing recipe vids !!

the crispy tofu, the umami, spicy, perfectly balanced sauce- hands down one of the dreamiest recipes I’ve made x

ingredients (serves 2)

300-400g firm tofu, torn into rough chunks
2 tbsp crispy chilli oil
2 tbsp tamari (or dark soy sauce)
1/2 tbsp agave
1/2 tbsp rice vinegar
4 tbsp water
5 tbsp & 2 tsp cornstarch
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 large spring onions, sliced, whites separated from green
sesame seeds to garnish

method:

1. toss the tofu in 5 tbsp of the cornstarch & season with salt & pepper. fry until golden & crisp then remove from the pan & set aside

Ramp up your Friday night with our sweet and sour crispy tofu. Saucy, spicy and the perfect weekend treat- check out the recipe below.

INGREDIENTS
200ml pineapple juice
60ml rice vinegar
60ml tomato ketchup
70g light brown sugar
2 inches ginger
1 clove garlic
1 red onion
1 green pepper
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
100g tinned pineapple chunks (drained)
1 block of firm tofu (280g)
1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 tablespoons cornflour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

METHOD
Peel and grate the ginger. Finely slice the red onion and the garlic. Deseed and chop the pepper into 2cm chunks.

Ingredients:
Tofu:
- 280g blocks extra firm tofu
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2-3 tbsp cornflour
Veg:
- 1 medium onion, chunks
- 1 red bell pepper, chunks
- 1 green bell pepper, chunks
- 2 celery stalks, chunks
- 2 small carrots, chunks
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 10 dried red chilli peppers
- 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
Sauce:
- 3 tbsp shaoxing wine
- 2 tbsp vg oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp black vinegar
- 1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 cup veg stock
- 1 slurry (1 tbsp cornflour & 2 tbsp water)

Method:
1. Cut the tofu into cubes then place in to a container with the soy sauce, allow it to marinate for 5-10 mins then add the cornflour and give it a shake. Ensure all pieces are coated.
