Speckled buff clay. Orange beige glaze on bottom half. Strip of unglazed clay through the middle. Top half is satin matte green with clear over it. Inside is just clear glaze.
Refreshing 💦 The word that comes to mind when I see these turquoise bowls. The raw, unglazed speckled buff clay outside reminds me of sand & the inner blueish green glaze reminds me of tropical waters. I’m obsessed with this look & have other unglazed bowls that I’ll probably glaze exactly like this. And maybe play around with other inner colors in the future with the outside left as exposed clay. Kim Mitchell Pottery on Instagram: "Here’s a wonderful glaze combo for fans of speckled buff clay. Start with 2 coats of spectrum wasabi, which has a fairly matte finish. Then comes Laguna robin’s egg! I dipped the RE this time, but you’ll get the same effect by finishing with two painted coats of it. Just remember to be careful with the bottom of your piece because RE is a dripper! The palm frond is a sticker I made on a cricut machine. #palmfronds #potteryglaze #greenmug #greenpottery…
Laguna Power Turquoise is glaze #7 in the commercial glaze tests @ earthnocturne blog. A super saturated blue / green glaze, opaque except on heavy texture there is some breaking. Mostly stable on darker clays, may run on lighter clays when applied thick. Tested on 5 midfire clays: porcelain, speckled white stoneware, terracotta red, speckled buff and dark brown, from Ky Mudworks and Standard clay.
