Charles Pasi

French singer-songwriter and harmonica player Charles Pasi is known for his eclectic sound, blending of artful pop-rock, blues, and jazz traditions. He first garnered attention with his 2006 Mainly Blue EP, before releasing 2011's Uncaged and 2014's Sometimes Awake. After signing with Blue Note Records, he hit the French albums chart with 2017's Bricks and continued to build his international reputation with 2020's Zebra and 2025's Adamas.Pasi was born in Paris in 1984 to a French mother and Italian father. Growing up, he became obsessed with blues and soul music, listening to artists like B.B. King, Ray Charles and Percy Sledge. He also sang in a gospel choir while still in his teens. Along the way, he discovered Bob Dylan whose music inspired him to pick up the harmonica. After high school, he further honed his skills, studying at the Saint Louis Jazz School in Rome and taking courses at the CIM jazz school and the Atla School in Paris. Accolades followed, including winning the top awards at the Blues sur Seine National Competition and the FestiBlues International Montreal. In 2006, he released his independent debut EP, Mainly Blue. Two more EP's followed, leading up to the release of his full-length debut, 2011's Uncaged, which featured a guest appearance by saxophonist Archie Shepp. He returned in 2014 with Sometimes Awake, featuring the single "A Man I Know." In 2015, Pasi signed with Blue Note Records and made his debut for the label two years later with Bricks, hitting the French albums chart. Zebra followed in 2020 with a further mix of acoustic and electric sounds. His third Blue Note album, Adamas, arrived in 2025. Named after the Greek for indomitable, it found Pasi exploring themes of resilience and featured the spotlight tracks "Nothing To Say," "Nino, Cielo e Terra," and "Garbage Dog" featuring Queen Omega.
