Console
Console is a side project for Martin Gretschmann, the lead programmer for the German indie rockers known as the notwist. After the second Console album, Rocket in the Pocket, was picked up by a licensing deal through the American mega-indie Matador however, Gretschmann actually earned more attention than his main act. Gretschmann had been recording his own electronic compositions during the recording of the first two Notwist albums, and after the Notwist's 1998 album Shrink, he released the first Console LP, Pan or Ama, on Payola. For his second album, Gretschmann recorded a computer love song, titled "14 Zero Zero," that indie tastemakers at Matador got hipped on, and in early 2000, Rocket in the Pocket was released through Matador.
