Alemeda

Alternative singer/songwriter Alemeda writes breezy rockers inspired by pop-punk, confessional acoustic ballads, and aching ballads that evoke 2-step U.K. garage, among other types of songs, all with a naturally heartfelt approach. The Sudanese-Ethiopian-American artist made her independent commercial debut in 2021, the year she went viral with "Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows." Signed to Top Dawg Entertainment on the strength of that exposure and additional singles such as "Post Nut Clarity," she issued FK IT, her debut EP, in 2024. Rahema Alameda was born in Ethiopia and was raised in both Addis Ababa and Phoenix. Pop music was forbidden at home, but the Disney Channel, from Hannah Montana to the High School Musical franchise, eventually gave her an introduction, and she later got into a spectrum of indie artists. She debuted in 2018 under her birth name with "Ain't Fast Enough," a funky and assured track that caught the ears of Top Dawg Entertainment co-president Moosa Tiffith. In 2020, she made her first commercial featured appearance on REASON's TDE-issued album New Beginnings, credited as Alemeda, and the next year issued a handful of self-released singles highlighted by the viral "Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows," a collaboration with producer Henry Was. "Post Nut Clarity" followed in 2022, the year she appeared on Ibrahim Maalouf's "Better on My Own" and Ab-Soul's "Fallacy." After Alemeda released another handful of singles through 2023 and early 2024, she signed with Top Dawg, and in September 2024 made her label debut with FK IT. The eight-track EP combined previously released and new material that included "Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows" and the Stint-produced tracks "Don't Call Me" and "I Already Dug Your Grave."
