Calum Hood

Singer Calum Hood is best known as the bassist/vocalist with Australian outfit 5 Seconds of Summer and for his own yearning, anthemic post-punk-influenced pop. With 5SOS, he released four chart-topping albums before making his solo debut with 2025's ORDER chaos ORDER. Born Calum Thomas Hood in 1996 in Mount Druitt, New South Wales, Australia, he grew up in a family of Scottish and Māori ancestry alongside his older brother, singer and songwriter Mali-Koa. He was interested in music growing up and was still in high school when he formed the pop-punk-influenced 5 Seconds of Summer with classmates Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford. They initially started out playing cover tunes and posting songs online. The band caught the attention of Sony/ATV Music and emerged to massive success, touring with One Direction and hitting number one in several countries with 2014's eponymously titled 5 Seconds of Summer. More number one albums followed, each reaching the top of the Australian charts and landing in the Top Five of the Billboard 200. The band also matured, embracing an ever more sophisticated, '90s alt-rock-influenced sound. Away from 5SOS, Hood branched out, co-writing songs for other artists, including Black Veil Brides and Makeout! In 2025, he released his debut solo album, ORDER chaos ORDER, which found him embracing a mature, post-punk- and dream pop-influenced style, as evidenced by the emotive lead single "Don't Forget You Love Me." It topped the Australian ARIA albums chart and cracked the Billboard 200.
