Yuna Kim
Kim Yun-a, the lead of Jaurim, is a prominent Korean singer-songwriter born on March 11, 1974, in Seoul. She debuted with her modern rock band Jaurim in 1997 with the album Purple Heart. As a solo artist, she made her solo debut with the single "One Fine Spring Day" for the film of the same name in 2001. She has been a leading figure in Korean popular music since the late 1990s and early 2000s, holding a unique status and influence. Excelling in both band and solo careers is rare, but Kim Yuna has achieved success in both paths. She is a well-rounded singer-songwriter with strong creativity and expressive vocals. Her voice is especially distinctive, with a broad vocal range, stable vocal technique, and delicate emotional expression — qualities that are instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with her era in Jaurim. The song "One Fine Spring Day," which was the theme for the movie of the same title and included in her first album, became a landmark hit that reintroduced her vocal powers to the public. As a solo artist and a band leader, she has paved her own way and become a role model for many younger musicians, especially female singer-songwriters emerging since the 2000s. Her live album There Is No Happy Love, released on April 7, 2023, charted at number 89 on Korea's Top 100 albums during the week of July 13, 2025, two years after its release.
