Looking to usher in a wave of positive pop after the bleakness of the COVID-19 pandemic, the three members of Australian trio Blusher found success in their homeland with frothy, fun works like “Dead End” off their 2023 EP Should We Go Dance? They’ve since added elements of electro and hyperpop into their sound while cultivating a growing international fan base with a movement-heavy live set.Aspiring pop musicians Jade Ingvarson-Favretto, Lauren Coutts, and Miranda Ward were eking out solo careers before realizing the advantages of combining their talents. (Ingvarson-Favretto had played with her parents in an ABBA tribute act since childhood; Coutts was cutting her teeth as a producer; and Ward balanced classical training with a love of playing guitar.) After meshing well together during a songwriting session in 2021, the trio quickly started churning out a volume of songs meant to evoke an anything-goes night out with friends -- something in short supply during COVID-19 lockdowns.Blusher issued their first single in Australia in 2022, the well-received “Softly Spoken.” The upbeat club fantasy “Dead End,” issued a year later, fared even better, earning the trio a deal with Atlantic Records. Both those tracks and three others made up the EP Should We Go Dance?, promoted by an opening slot on tour with Norwegian art-pop artist Aurora. Their live shows, which featured taut choreography and dynamic sets with the trio playing multiple instruments on-stage, helped the group cultivate a fan base outside of the Antipodes. Subsequent singles in 2024, including “Rave Angel,” “Accelerator,” and “24 Hours in Paris,” featured production with collaborators like Pink Slip (Jason Derulo, Fletcher, K. Flay) and Donny Bravo (Disclosure).
