Rose Gray

U.K. singer and songwriter Rose Gray draws on yearning dance-pop and uplifting techno beats for her club-friendly songs. After emerging with tracks that recalled the sultry neo-soul of Amy Winehouse, she turned head-on into dance music for her first official EP, 2022's Synchronicity. The more elating Higher Than the Sun followed a year later before Gray issued her debut album, Louder, Please, in 2025. It traversed a dance-urging mix of strutting techno, funky synth pop, and seductive dance-pop.Born in her parents' flat in Muswell Hill in the north London Borough of Haringey, Gray grew up mostly in the east London Borough of Waltham Forest. She credits her early love of music to her mother and stepfather, both of whom are actors. She signed with a record label as a teen, but took a break from music after the label took possession of dozens of her songs upon their parting ways. Gray soon became a figure on London's nightlife scene, including working the door at the nightclub Fabric. When she eventually released a new solo single, "Good Life," in 2019, it was a piano song with a grooving beat that showcased her soul-inspired delivery. Dubbing it a mixtape, she eventually released the seven-track Dancing, Drinking, Talking, Thinking in 2021 before presenting her official debut EP, Synchronicity, in September 2022. It set her sultry vocals against pulsing club beats. Another EP, the even more exhilarating Higher Than the Sun, appeared in early 2023. Gray mixed ecstatic techno, melodic dance-pop, and darker synth-funk on her full-length debut, the entirely danceable Louder, Please, which arrived on Play It Again Sam in January 2025. Its slew of producers included Grammy winner Alex Metric.
