Stephen Day

Nashville crooner Stephen Day spans pop, rock, soul, and jazz in his music, recognized for its emotional depth and storytelling.Born in 1996 in Buford, Georgia, Day began making music at the age of 12 after finding his mother's old acoustic guitar in a closet and persuading her to teach him a few chords. Just a couple of years later, he wrote a song that impressed her so much that he thought he might have a chance of making a career in music. Writing more songs, he started performing locally at open-mic nights. Day moved to Nashville to attend college and began his recording career there in 2016, self-releasing his debut EP, Undergrad Romance and the Moses in Me, while still in his sophomore year at Belmont University.He began to make a name for himself by playing live around the city; his debut full-length studio album, Guess I'm Grown Now, followed in 2019. The record had a fuller, more-produced rock band sound than the EP. Comparisons were immediately drawn to John Mayer, which Day welcomed; he also acknowledged Glen Campbell, D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Sinatra as influences. A second EP, Original Songs and Sound, appeared in 2020, and a second album, The Shapes I'm In, arrived in 2021. Day toured the U.S. as a headliner and as support to the likes of Teddy Swims, Ben Rector, Stephen Sanchez, and Lawrence. He also played abroad in Asia and Europe. Only after his third album, 2024's Gold Mine, did he finally sign a record deal, with Riser House Records. The label released his holiday single "It's Christmas All Over" in October of that year.
