Annagail

Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Annagail is an Americana/folk-rock band fronted by marital and creative partners Jared and Jennifer Adams. Active since the late 2000s -- and before that under the name Route 3 -- Annagail emit a brazen sense of optimism in their music, which ranges from buoyant to ruggedly soulful. After their 2007 debut album, Linger in Bloom, found some traction, they responded with the Nashville-made Cabin Sessions EP. In subsequent years, the duo endured a succession of personal hardships yet rebounded in 2021 with Home and Baby, It's You, a pair of passionate and resilient albums. They released the holiday set Tinsel and Holly in December 2024.After working for several years under the name Route 3, the Adamses re-emerged under their new name with Linger in Bloom, their 2007 debut album. Produced by Don Chaffer in Kansas City, the record collated the pair's various styles into an appealing amalgam that fused grungy alt-rock vibes with glowing folk, pop, blues, and roots music. Annagail's next project was the Cabin Sessions EP, which they recorded in Nashville with producer Keith Follese. It was released in 2010 by the ALL Entertainment label. After this, the band's progress was slowed when Jennifer contracted Lyme disease. Annagail soldiered on, gigging and writing songs, but the disease matured into a lingering chronic illness that made committing to regular activity unpredictable. On top of this, the couple dealt with the trauma of their young daughter being abducted (and her subsequent return to safety) while in South Africa. Then, in 2016, a fire destroyed the Adamses' home and studio. Incredibly, they continued to work, gigging regionally until the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined their live shows.As has been their disposition since the start, they spun something positive out of this new situation. Working at their new home, Jared and Jennifer managed to record two albums of new material, which they released in 2021 under the titles Home and Baby, It's You. Despite complications from Jennifer's chronic illness, Annagail endured, playing occasional shows and returning in late 2024 with their first Christmas album, Tinsel and Holly.
