Ricky Ducati

Canadian singer/songwriter Ricky Ducati originally made a name for himself with his soulful pop vocals as half of Midnight to Monaco before teaming up with Møme for their 2021 debut album Flashback FM. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Ducati grew up surrounded by music; his mother had been a disco star in her native Indonesia in the 1980s, and his father was a producer. While his brother took to music straightaway, Ducati took his time, picking up the bass at 14 so he could back his brother's songs. Finding his own way through music software, he started to write his own beats, earning early praise from online music publications. Inspired not only by the disco sound he grew up with but the classic rock of bands like Led Zeppelin, Ducati's own music managed to straddle both genres. In 2012, while studying at music college, he got in touch with Empire of the Sun's Jonathan Sloan on social media, who invited him to London to record. Dropping out of college, Ducati spent six months in the U.K. with Sloan before the pair moved to Australia to continue writing and recording for their project Midnight to Monaco. 2015 saw them release their debut single, "Suicide," before inking a deal with Island that slowly fizzled out after a handful of releases. At the same time, Møme, issued a remix of their debut single, renaming it "Alive," which hit the charts in France. Ducati was invited to perform the vocals for a live performance with Møme, and the two hit it off. Midnight to Monaco eventually split and Ducati started writing for other pop stars before teaming up with Møme in 2020 for the release of their single "Got It Made." At the beginning of 2021, they issued their debut album, Flashback FM, which combined Ducati's soulful pop vocals with Møme's classic, French disco-inspired electronics.
