Farina

Farina Pao Páucar Franco, known professionally as Fariana, is a Colombian singer, rapper, and songwriter who has been a trailblazer in the Latin urban music scene since her emergence in 2005. Born on September 16, 1986, in Medellín, she gained national attention as a finalist on Colombia’s Factor X, becoming the first woman to introduce reggaeton to the country’s mainstream. Her debut single, “Sólo con Palabras,” a duet with Julio César Meza, marked her initial success. In 2012, she released her second studio album, Del Odio Al Amor, featuring standout tracks like “Pongan Atención” and “Soñar No Cuesta Nada.” Fariana's international profile expanded through collaborations with artists such as Ñengo Flow on “Pum Pum” (2013), J Álvarez on “Jala Jala” (2015), and Bryant Myers on “Si Ellos Supieran” (2016). Her partnership with Wyclef Jean led to tracks like “Casanova” and “Party Started,” and in 2017, she became the second Colombian artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. That year, her single “Mejor Que Yo?” achieved Top 10 status on Colombia’s urban charts. In 2020, she collaborated with Thalía and Sofía Reyes on “Tick Tock” and with Inna on “Read My Lips,” which charted in Romania. Her 2021 EP FloWres, created with Arcángel, included the Billboard-charting single “La Boca.” Fariana received Latin Grammy nominations for “A Fuego” (2021) and “Freestyle 15” (2022). In 2022, she starred in the film Flow Calle and released hits like “Bendecido” with El Alfa and “Fiesta” with Ryan Castro. In 2023, she collaborated with Sean Paul on “El Vibe” and was recognized by Billboard as one of the top 32 Spanish-speaking female rappers. Embracing a new artistic identity, she adopted the name Fariana in 2024 and released her third studio album, Underwater, which debuted at number 1 on iTunes Colombia. The album features collaborations with Flo Rida, Sean Paul, Dekko, and El Alfa, and includes the viral hit “Mi Amiga Es Una P.”
