Jon Allen

Jon Allen is a British singer/songwriter with a ruggedly melodic folk-rock sound. His first album, 2009's Dead Man's Suit, put him on the map and throughout the following decade, he strung together an impressive catalog of albums like Deep River (2014) and Blue Flame (2018) which fused soulful grit with tightly crafted pop songwriting. While regularly touring the U.K. and Europe, Allen continued to put out quality releases, moving from the punchy swagger of 2023's A Heightened Sense of Everything to 2025's Seven Dials, an eclectic album with a historical bent.Raised in South Devon, Allen's musical roots were informed by classic rock, blues, and soul with artists like Van Morrison, Elton John, Free, and Faces serving as early influences. After attending the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, he began his recording career and landed one of his early singles, 2008's "Going Home," in a Land Rover commercial. This helped build momentum for his 2009 debut, Dead Man's Suit, which earned national attention, resulting in appearances on Later with Jools Holland as well as several BBC sessions; he also toured Europe with Seal.Over the next several years, Allen released two more albums, 2011's Sweet Defeat and 2014's Deep River, and had his songs featured in films like Safe Haven and the television series Homeland. A fourth album, Blue Flame, was released in early 2018. Its sound palette was notably upbeat and positive throughout, a conscious decision to lift people's emotions during the political and social upheaval in the U.K. in the late 2010s. Allen's first outing of the next decade was 2021's ...Meanwhile, and he followed it up two years later with the energetic A Heightened Sense of Everything. Around this time, he formed a new backing band, the Luna Kings. Throughout 2024, he began ramping up for his next full-length, an album inspired by city life in 18th century London. Tracks like "Nine Lives" and "Down with the Tide" appeared ahead of Seven Dials' May 2025 release.
