Teen Mortgage

Washington, D.C. garage punk duo Teen Mortgage blend their hometown's raw hardcore and societally invective traditions into their own maverick and anthemic sound. Following buzzed-about EPs, they made their full-length debut with 2025's Devil Ultrasonic Dream.Formed in 2017 in Washington, D.C., Teen Mortgage features singer/guitarist James Guile and drummer Ed Barakauskas. The duo initially met via a Craigslist post Guile made after relocating to D.C. from his native Liverpool, England. Soon after, they were bashing out songs, pairing gritty punk riffs with lyrics about struggles, both personal and societal. It was a potent sound they introduced on a series of EPs, as well as tours alongside bands like Death from Above 1979, Upchuck, and Bass Drum of Death, among others. The pair signed to King Pizza Records and compiled their work on 2024's Teen Mortgage EP. In 2025, they returned with their full-length debut, Devil Ultrasonic Dream.
