Mizmor

A one-person doom, drone, and black metal project, Mizmor is the brainchild of enigmatic Portland, Oregon native A.L.N. Delving into themes of existential angst, nihilism, and depression, the project has yielded lauded blackened doom efforts like Yodh (2016), Cairn (2020), and Prosaic (2023). In 2025, A.L.N. teamed up with fellow doom specialist M.S.W. (aka Hell) for the collaborative Alluvion. Stylized using the Hebrew word for "hymn," "chant," and "psalm," Mizmor emerged in 2012 with an independently released eponymous full-length effort. A series of EPs and splits followed, all of which were compiled in 2018 on the collection Mishlei. Mizmor's sophomore long-player, the acclaimed Yodh, arrived in 2016. The bleak and icy Cairn appeared three years later, followed by a pair of collaborations, Dialetheia with Andrew Black and Myopia with Thou, in 2020 and 2022, respectively. Praised for its uncompromising heaviness and hopeless, miasmatic messaging, Prosaic, Mizmor's Profound Lore debut, was released in 2023, with Alluvion, a collaboration with Salem native and fellow doomcaster Hell, appearing in 2025.
