Dannii Minogue

Dancefloor queen Dannii Minogue is an Australian pop star, actress, designer, model, and activist who specializes in club-friendly fare that has helped her break the U.K. record for consecutive number one dance singles by a female artist. Debuting in 1990 with the gold-certified Love and Kisses, she went on to score numerous chart hits throughout the decades, including '90s singles like "This Is It" and "All I Wanna Do" and 2000s favorites "Put the Needle on It" and "I Begin to Wonder" from 2003's Neon Nights. Tracks from her follow-up Club Disco kept her on the charts just as she pivoted her attention to her duties as a judge on The X Factor UK. Compilations, reissues, and one-off singles kept her occupied through the early 2010s, and she launched a musical comeback in 2015 with "Summer of Love" and "100 Degrees," a duet with her sister Kylie. Into the 2020s, she issued singles including "We Could Be the One" and "Thinking 'Bout Us," a collaboration with Sydney-based DJ and producer Autone.Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1971, Minogue enrolled in singing and dancing lessons at an early age; by the time she was seven years old, she'd already landed a spot on the Australian television series Skyways. Minogue's next venture landed her a place on Young Talent Time, a teen variety program that bore a strong resemblance to The Mickey Mouse Club. She appeared on her first album with the show's cast in 1985, taking a solo spotlight on one song. Although she left the show in 1988, her time in the spotlight was far from complete, and sales from her DANNII clothing line helped extend her success into other arenas. A short year later, Minogue signed a recording contract with the Mushroom Records label while working on the soap opera Home & Away. Her debut single, "Love & Kisses," was released in 1990, eventually charting in the Top Ten in both Australia and the U.K. The popular song landed on her debut Love and Kisses (the title of the international reissue of Australia's self-titled Dannii), a collection of pop/rock songs and dance tracks that reached gold status before she had even turned 21.A remix album appeared in 1992, and Minogue spent the rest of the decade releasing dance-oriented records (1993's Get into You and 1997's Girl), hosting TV shows (Top of the Pops, The Big Breakfast), and acting in several film and theater productions. The 2000s brought Minogue more musical success, as her 2001 single "Who Do You Love Now?" reached the top spot on America's dance charts. The following album, Neon Nights, enjoyed similar levels of success in the U.K., and Minogue's domination of the U.K.'s dance charts soon earned her the nickname "Queen of the Clubs." The digital release of Club Disco in 2007 supported that nickname, while that same year she became a judge on the television series Australia's Got Talent, and on The X Factor UK. She returned to music in 2015 and debuted her single "Summer of Love" with a performance at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. That year she also joined her sister Kylie on "100 Degrees" from her holiday album Kylie Christmas. She closed out the decade with "Holding On" featuring Jason Heerah and "Galaxy." Kicking off the 2020s, Minogue released an updated version of one of her earliest hits, "All I Wanna Do 2020." She also issued "We Could Be the One" and "Thinking 'Bout Us" with Autone. The reissue Neon Nights 20 arrived in June 2023.
