Don Glori

Chinese-Australian bassist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Gordon Li, aka Don Glori, melds modal jazz, soul-funk, and dance grooves into his own exotic, throwback sonic stew. Following a 2020 EP, he debuted his heady vibe on the 2022 album Welcome, and has continued to expand his approach, releasing 2024's Don't Forget to Have Fun and 2025's Paper Can't Wrap Fire.Hailing from Melbourne, Li emerged around 2019 as one of the leading lights of the Australian future-soul/nu-jazz movement. Adopting the anagram Don Glori, he debuted with 2020's Dawn Calling EP, playing bass as well as synths, percussion, and vocals. He brought his '60s- and '70s-inspired vision further to life with 2022's Welcome, which featured contributions by vocalist Allysha Joy, saxophonist Lachlan Thompson, and others. Along the way, Li relocated to London, and he returned in 2024 with Don't Forget to Have Fun, which also featured a bevy of collaborators including Thompson, vocalists Hannah Mckittrick and Bianca Kyriacou, and more. In 2025, Li delivered his third full-length, Paper Can't Wrap Fire, featuring Kyriacou, vocalist ML Hall, and others.
