Kilo Kish

Kilo Kish is a singer and songwriter whose output spans a multitude of sounds, from progressive R&B to assorted styles of club music, that can be loosely characterized as left-field pop. The Los Angeles-based artist appeared in the early 2010s on tracks by the Jet Age of Tomorrow and the Internet. The Homeschool EP marked her debut in 2012. By the time she released 2016's Reflections in Real Time, a deeply personal album that flitted between fully developed songs and fragmentary interludes, she had also collaborated with the likes of Childish Gambino, Etienne de Crécy, and Vince Staples. Since Reflections in Real Time, Kish has recorded primarily with Ray Brady, issuing the Mothe and Redux EPs, the 2022 full-length American Gurl, and the 2025 EP Negotiations. Kish's other endeavors include visual art and design.Born Lakisha Kimberly Robinson in Orlando, Florida, Kilo Kish spent part of her childhood in New Jersey before she returned to Orlando and was briefly in a pre-teen pop group called D'Angelz. After high school, she moved to New York, attended the Pratt Institute and the Fashion Institute of Technology, and worked as a model and waiter while pursuing music. Crossing paths with Matt Martians (of Odd Future affiliates the Internet) led to Kish appearing on the Jet Age of Tomorrow's "Want You Still" and the Internet's "Ode to a Dream." In 2012, the year she graduated from FIT and contributed to tracks by Childish Gambino and Flatbush Zombies, she issued the alternative R&B-leaning Homeschool EP, highlighted by "Navy," a collaboration with Martians and fellow Internet member Syd. A couple years later, after assorted collaborative work and a mixtape titled K+, Kish connected with the music wing of French fashion label Kitsuné for Across, another EP of atmospheric, slackened R&B. In 2015, she appeared on Etienne de Crécy's Super Discount 3 and Vince Staples' Summertime '06. Reflections in Real Time followed in February 2016 with Black Eyed Peas associate Ray Brady as the primary producer. As Kish's profile grew, she appeared on 2017 tracks headlined by Gorillaz ("Out of Body") and Staples (throughout Big Fish Theory). Her recordings through the remainder of the decade were issued through Talib Kweli's Blacksmith label. The Mothe EP was led by the buzzing "Elegance." Next came Redux, an EP highlighted by "Nice Out." Independent going forward with Brady still her main producer, she returned in 2021 with the first singles from her second album, American Gurl, which arrived in March 2022. A deluxe edition of that set and an expanded anniversary edition of Homeschool preceded "Growup," a dubstep-tinged collaboration with producer Machinedrum that saw release on Ninja Tune in 2024. Negotiations, billed as Kish's sixth EP, landed in 2025 with the Miguel-assisted "Negotiate" among the preview tracks.
