Chris Riffle
An indie folk singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Chris Riffle has been compared to the likes of Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, and Ben Lee. Born in a rural area of Washington State, Riffle had a musical upbringing and often sang and played with his parents. During high school and part of his time at Bellingham's Fairhaven College, he was in a band, but he eventually opted to record and perform as a solo artist. He opened for Mary Lou Lord and Death Cab for Cutie, among others, and had "Wonderboy," a song from his self-released album The Sun Is Up (2004), played on the radio station of Western Washington University. Riffle moved to New York City and within two years started working on his second album, Introducing...Chris Riffle (2010), produced by Jimi Zhivago (Rufus Wainwright, Norah Jones). A pair of EPs, I Am Not from Here (2011) and Another Dream (2012), preceded Riffle's third album, Out of Town (2015). Once again, he was assisted by Zhivago, who enhanced his gentle, aching sound.
