Lilbootycall

Taking cloud rap and adding a jazzy spin, Texas-bred rapper Lilbootycall crafts melodic and sugary tunes that feature mellow production, auto-tuned crooning, and packed bars. Emerging in the late 2010s, he issued viral single "Sailor Moon" and amassed an audience before signing with the majors. His debut full-length, Jesus Said Run It Back, arrived in 2019. Born Michael Bocanegra in San Antonio, Call was raised by music-loving parents and found inspiration from the likes of Houston rappers Mike Jones, Slim Thug, and Paul Wall, as well as rap-metal acts such as Linkin Park and Papa Roach. He started making beats at home on his laptop before joining a rap collective in high school. While his time with the group was short, he continued as a solo artist, uploading early songs "Aquafina" and "Sailor Moon" in 2017. The latter track gained traction and became a viral hit. He followed with "Butterfly," "First Date," and "777," which featured Cuco and Kwe$t. Signing with Warner Records, Lilbootycall released debut album Jesus Said Run It Back in 2019. In addition to "777," the album also included "18K" with Juicy J and "Prescriptions" with GoldLink.
