Bongzilla
According to stereotype, there’s little to do in Wisconsin besides eat cheese, smoke pot, and play music with your friends in a garage. While the dairy proclivities of Bongzilla are still not public knowledge, the rest is indisputable. The Madison stoner-metal high priests first got together in the mid-'90s and, after releasing a series of ungodly, heavy, Sabbath-like EPs, eventually found their way to Relapse records. The mammoth psychedelia of their first LP, 1999's STASH, only hinted at the extreme and disorienting THC-marinated rumble of subsequent albums like GATEWAY.
