Pascale Picard
A Quebec-based singer/songwriter who sings primarily in English, Pascale Picard's catchy folk-rock songs have earned her a widespread audience throughout Canada and parts of Europe. Her 2007 debut album, Me, Myself & Us, went platinum, garnering a Juno Award nomination and yielding the Anglophone pop hit "Gate 22." She led the Pascale Picard Band through one more album before going solo on 2014's more introspective All Things Pass and its 2018 follow-up The Beauty We've Found. During this period she also began working as a radio host at a popular Quebec station. 2025 saw the release of Picard's third solo LP, Bigger Kids, Bigger Problems, as well as the publication of her first book, an autofiction novel titled La note de passage.Growing up in the Quebec City suburb Cap-Rouge, Picard began singing in her teens and later started performing around the city's bar circuit, leading her own band. Despite living in a French-speaking province, she sang her lyrics in English, hoping to reach a broader fan base. Within a few years, the group built up enough regional attention to interest Universal Music Group, which released Pascale Picard Band's 2007 debut, Me, Myself & Us. The album was a breakout success, thanks in part to singles like "Smilin'!!" and "Gate 22," the latter of which enjoyed a 12-week stay on Quebec's Anglophone Top 50 chart. In 2008 she was nominated for Artist of the Year at the annual Juno Awards and the band headed to Europe for a successful overseas tour. Their 2011 follow-up album, A Letter to No One, made the Canadian Top Five, further establishing Picard's success. They also provided the soundtrack to the third season of the Canadian television series Trauma which was released a year later. Although the band continued to back Picard at live shows, she opted to release her next record as a solo album. All Things Pass was released in 2014 and showed a more thoughtful and introspective side of Picard's songwriting. Over the next few years, she began a concurrent career as a radio host and in 2017 gave birth to a daughter. A second solo album, The Beauty We've Found, appeared in 2018, bearing a more diverse sonic palette in her songs, which explored themes of growth and vulnerability. Picard stayed largely out of the spotlight for the next several years, though she remained creatively active. When she returned in the mid-2020s, it was with two different projects. The first was a work of autobiographical fiction, La note de passage, published in March 2025. A month later, Picard delivered her next solo album, Bigger Kids, Bigger Problems.
