Abul Mogard

Behind the name Abdul Mogard, presented as a former Serbian worker turned retired musician, is in reality the Italian electronic music composer Guido Zen, originally from Rome, whose sound universe blends ambient and drone through the use of analog keyboards. The fictional biography, which has been widely retold, gives rise to a parallel career for the analog drone pioneer, who has been releasing his productions since 2012 via the VCO Recordings label. Following the release of the albums Abdul Mogard (2012), Drifted Heaven (2013) and The Sky Had Vanished (2015), the compilation Circular Forms also released in 2015 brings together tracks from the first cassettes, before the whole set was made available digitally from music platforms. The musician, who collaborated with Justin Wiggan and Siegmar Fricke on Lulled Glaciers (2014), then Harmonious Thelonious on Schleißen 1 (2015), releases Above All Dreams in 2018, while And We Are Passing Through Silently (2019) gathers five remixes. 2019 sees the release of the soundtrack to the film Kimberlin, followed by the albums In Immobile Air (2021), In a Few Places Along the River (2022) and Quiet Pieces (2025), after further collaborations with COH(COH Meets Abdul Mogard, 2022) and Grand River(In uno spazio immenso, 2024).
