Blackwater Holylight

Blackwater Holylight are a psychedelic stoner rock band hailing from Portland, Oregon, known for fusing heavy riffs with atmospheric textures and haunting harmonies. Formed in 2016 by bassist and vocalist Allison “Sunny” Faris after the breakup of her previous band, Blackwater Holylight emerged as a fully female-fronted project designed to break the mould of traditional heavy music by blending elements of doom, psych, garage, and shoegaze. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2018 on RidingEasy Records, quickly garnered attention for its hypnotic blend of ethereal melodies and crushing distortion. Follow-up albums like Veils of Winter (2019) and Silence/Motion (2021) deepened their sonic identity, showcasing a band unafraid to explore vulnerability, emotional depth, and sonic experimentation—all while remaining rooted in a thunderous low-end and fuzz-laden groove. In 2025, they released a new EP, If You Only Knew.
