Sarathy Korwar

Sarathy Korwar, born in the United States and raised in Chennai and Ahmedabad, India, is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and bandleader based in London. He began studying tabla at age 10 before dedicating himself to music. Korwar's career breakthrough came with the release of his debut album Day to Day on Ninja Tune in 2016. He leads the UPAJ Collective, a group of Eastern and Western musicians, and released their live album My East is Your West in November 2018. Korwar's second studio album, More Arriving, was released through The Leaf Label in July 2019 and won Best Independent Album at The AIM Awards in 2020. His third studio album, KALAK, was released on the same label in November 2022. Korwar has collaborated with notable artists such as Shabaka Hutchings, Kamasi Washington, and Yussef Kamaal.
