When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman (Billy Bob Thornton) determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis), who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocksure A.J. (Ben Affleck), who Harry thinks isn't good enough for his daughter (Liv Tyler), until the mission proves otherwise.

If you don’t like this movie, there is something wrong with you. First of all, shut up to all the people who talk about the science…. If you want science, watch a documentary, movies, are for entertainment. Secondly, If you aren’t moved by the emotion of the father daughter connection between Harry and Gracie, then you’re not human. This is a fantastic story, with drama, action and comedy. One of my favorites, I have watched it at least a dozen times and I am 46 years old with 2 college degrees and multiple professional licenses. Great movie!

A handful of likeable characters played by Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Steve Buscemi, Owen Wilson, and a few others are literally the only thing to like about this otherwise insanely absurd and over-the-top attempt at science fiction. If you require even a degree of plausibility to enjoy a movie, however, then this probably isn't for you.

Just a fun summertime movie featuring plenty of action. Sure, the premise is far fetched and almost laughable at times, but it’s never enough to lose interest in the movie. More than likely because of the acting performances and wide variety of interesting, likeable characters.
