What to Know

Critics Consensus

A prickling debut that pulls few punches, Hacks deftly balances its sharp critiques of the comedy world with more intimate moments, all the while giving the incomparable Jean Smart a role worthy of her talents -- and an excellent partner in Hannah Einbinder.

Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya Autostraddle Hacks takes two very unlikable characters, mixes them together, and transmutes them into something truly irresistible. It’s a staggering feat of chemistry. May 23, 2022 Full Review Shannon Keating BuzzFeed News Exploring what’s funny about the pain of human existence isn’t anything new in comedy, of course, but the genre has perhaps taken on a new tenor now that comedians are writing about the particularities of their self-loathing... Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Benji Wilson Daily Telegraph (UK) The pacing is exquisite, with every episode revealing just enough of Deb and Ava’s backstory to cast them repeatedly in a new light. Rated: 5/5 Apr 1, 2022 Full Review Bree Fowler CNET Send this show to anyone who tells you women aren't funny. Better yet, tell them that debate ended decades ago, then put your feet up and enjoy this year's most perfect piece of television. Johanna L Funny and well written. The cast has great chemistry. Also by far the best bi representation I’ve seen in a tv show or movie. Avoids all the common pitfalls and negative tropes surrounding bisexuality. Ava is super annoying and awkward in a very relatable way. Absolutely love the female leads. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/11/25 Full Review Yvette R I was scammed out of $370,000 through a phishing attack on my cryptocurrency wallet. A trusted cousin sold me on a "surefire" cryptocurrency deal, and I dove in, expecting profits. Reality hit hard when I realized it was a cunning fraud—my savings vanished. Crushed, I shared my story with a coworker, who pointed me to Cyberpunk Programmers, raving about their success with scam victims. Doubtful but desperate, I reached out. From the start, Cyberpunk Programmers impressed me with their expertise and empathy. They explained every step of the recovery process clearly, working tirelessly to trace my funds. Astonishingly, they recovered all 57,000 euros—a lifeline I thought was gone forever. I’ve learned to question "easy money" schemes, and I urge others to stay vigilant. If you’ve been scammed, don’t despair, Cyberpunk Programmers' skill and dedication can make a difference. They turned my loss into a lesson and gave me a fresh start. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone facing fraud; they’re proof that hope isn’t lost. Its poignant, gutwrenching, knee slappingly funny, heart-breakingly cruel, and as someone who has worked in entertainment, all too realistic. Writers writing about writers, and acting with actors, the use of a force like Jean Smart, and showcasing her talent to those new and old, Hacks is a perfect show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/11/25 Full Review Ashley N Surprisingly fresh show. Really loved the energy of Debrah and Eva. The jokes are excellent.
