CM Yogi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on His Death Anniversary

Today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule on his death anniversary. Remembering Phule’s groundbreaking contributions to Indian society, CM Yogi emphasized the relevance of his mission to eliminate caste discrimination, untouchability, and social injustice, and to champion women’s education and empowerment.

Speaking about Phule’s legacy, CM Yogi described him as a “great social reformer and nationalist thinker,” whose ideas remain a beacon for creating an egalitarian society. Phule’s relentless struggle against entrenched social evils and his pioneering efforts in uplifting the deprived have inspired generations, the Chief Minister stated.

A Visionary Ahead of His Time

Born in 1827, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule is celebrated for his relentless efforts in promoting education, particularly among marginalized communities and women. He and his wife, Savitribai Phule, were trailblazers who established schools for girls, challenging the orthodox norms of their time. Phule also founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) in 1873 to fight social injustice and champion equality.

CM Yogi highlighted these achievements in his tribute, stating, “Mahatma Jyotirao Phule’s work is a guide for the entire humanity. His commitment to social justice and equality is a lesson in courage & resilience.”

Relevance in Contemporary Society

As India progresses toward becoming a more inclusive and equitable nation, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule’s teachings hold special significance. CM Yogi urged the youth to draw inspiration from Phule’s life and contribute to building a society free of discrimination.

The Chief Minister also reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting the ideals championed by Mahatma Phule. Efforts to enhance educational opportunities, uplift marginalized communities, and encourage gender equality resonate with the reformer’s vision, he added.
