I am a citizen of Dema. I am an escapee. I have failed time and time again. I have never seen the world outside this city, but one day I hope to. One day I will. My friend Clancy is like me. He is a citizen of Dema. He is an escapee. He is an exception. He has seen the world outside these imposing walls. He tells me about these people he's seen. He hasn't been able to speak with them yet, but he gets closer with each escape. I'm going to ask him to take me the next time he goes. I want to see these people for myself. I want to know if we can survive outside of Dema. Because I want to live. He never questioned his kidnapping. Sure, Tyler let the occasional "why me?" slip through his consciousness, but he never truly asked why it was him that Nico decided to take. Why was it him that deserved the suffering of Dema? But he also never asked why Josh came to save him alongside his group of bandits. He never questioned the unconditional love that Josh was willing to pour out to him. He didn't understand why Josh wanted to save him. He never questioned it, though.
