Nathan Mercer just wanted to go home.
Remy LeBeau just wanted to find a way to get by.
Two mutants. Two fugitives. Two guys who never really had a place to belong.
After a chance meeting while fleeing the authorities, Nathan and Remy find themselves back in France both passing through, both heading for the same final destination: America.
But their journey takes an unexpected turn when a simple heist uncovers something much bigger. An anti-mutant criminal organization is operating in the shadows, exploiting fear and rising hatred toward mutants to build a network that stretches far beyond the city.
Remy-professional thief, con artist, and self-proclaimed man of class-has no reason to get involved. Nathan, on the other hand, has already seen what hate can do. So, amidst chases, fights, narrow escapes, strokes of luck, and a few terrible decisions, the two find themselves forced to team up.
Nathan is disciplined, thoughtful, and deeply idealistic.
Remy is impulsive, arrogant, sarcastic, and decidedly overconfident.
They couldn't be more different.
And yet, those very differences end up making them an incredibly effective duo. As they try to dismantle the organization and survive long enough to make it back to the States, Nathan and Remy will discover something neither of them had ever truly had: a friend.
Before the X-Men.
Before the uniforms.
Before becoming heroes.
There were just two guys, a road ahead, and a whole lot of trouble. This is the story of Excalibur and Gambit.
