His father Heatwave is a Firefighter and his mother Quickshadow is a pediatric neuro-oncologist who works at Cook children's Hospital. Hot shot lives a very normal life and has always been very healthy. However in September that all changes when Hot shot begins to feel unwell and his parents take him right to Cook Children's hospital. They do an MRI and it reveals a brain tumor. They do tests and confirm it Medulloblastoma SHH a type of brain cancer. Hot shot is ready to be brave. While in the hospital Hot shot makes friends with four other kids his age with the same type of cancer named Hoist, Medix, Whirl and Wedge. Hot shot is five years old and lives with his parents Heatwave and Quickshadow. and their two year old Dalmatian Fireplug. Hot shot is a pediatric heart patient and has been since birth. Hot shot was born November 14 2020 and Hot shot was born with severe TOF, with TGA, three VSD, an ASD, Aortic stenosis and tachycardia. It was detected before he was born. Quickshadow thanked her lucky stars she worked at Texas Children's hospital and she had many good colleages there to take care of her son's heart. Her colleague Dr. Horn was going to be her child's cardiologist who was giving the best care. This made Quickshadow proud of Children's Medical Center Dallas Hot shot was taken there a couple of hours after birth and when Hot shot was 4 days old he had his first surgery. Hot shot as he grew had 9 open heart surgeries, 14 cardiac catheterizations, 20 blood tests, 22 ECGs, 20 ECHOS, 6 medications, 1 pacemaker put in, and 29 hospitalizations for problems. Hot shot has not had an easy life but his little spirit was never broken. Hot shot made friends with four other kids his age growing up who also have very complex heart defects, Wedge who was born on September 18th, Whirl who was born on September 29th, Hoist who was born on October 8th, and Medix who was born on December 4th. Then when they are about turn 5 Hot shot and his friends needed new hearts. Quickshadow was once again grateful her hospital because it has a good heart transplant program Heatwave who admires his son's courage saying he is a hero too. Hot shot makes friends with five other kids his age with the same cancer who were also just diagnosed. Three boys, Hoist, Medix, and Wedge and a girl Whirl. A slow burn romance.

Hannah is an active and playful girl who just turned 8. She lives with her mom, dad, 13 year old brother Ed and six year old Monty. Hannah just started second grade. Hannah loves going to school. She loves animals, 1980s cartoons, Pokemon, Kirby, Mario, the color orange and baking. Hannah is a healthy and wonderful child with a big heart. However soon Hannah begins to feel unwell. She is tired all the time, she has a fever that won't go away, she is pale, she is bruising easily, she is getting nosebleeds and her cuts and scrapes are bleeding more. Her parents take her to Cook Children's ER after she said she felt bad and her fever spiked high. Ed and Monty came along because they were worried. There the doctors did a blood test and they said it looks like it might be leukemia. They did more tests and Hannah is diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell or ALL B-Cell. Hannah has blood cancer. It was a shock to her and her family. Now Hannah is ready to be brave and fight her Leukemia and win.

Five eight year old children have just moved to Fort Worth Texas. Hot shot Flamezer, Hoist Towver, Medix Redden, Whirl Windal, and Wedge Shoveler. They all recently turned eight years old too. They all love to run, jump, climb and play. They all have their own unique personalities. Each of their families are special in their own way too. They are all very healthy. However in November they start to feel unwell. On the night of November 14th they all feel so bad their families take them to Cook Children's hospital. There the kids meet and become friends. They are all checked into the hospital. They all have all kinds of tests done on them. Then a couple of days later they are all diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma a type of brain tumor that is brain cancer, the most common solid tumor in children, and the most deadly childhood cancer. They all find out the same diagnosis and decide to fight their cancer together. They all become the best of friends. They are determined to win too! (Humanized)

Heatwave and Quickshadow are so happy. They now have a baby boy who was just born today. They named him Hot shot. But quickly the joy turns to great concern. They are told that Hot shot has several heart defects. He has a two major heart defects teratology of Fallot, transposition of the great arteries, a small right ventricle, a blocked artery, and two holes in his heart. The doctors are stunned he is alive. He was immediately sent to Texas Children's Hospital. They were stunned about Hot shot's heart. But they saw it could be handled with open heart surgery. So Hot shot was going to begin a journey of trying to stay healthy with an unhealthy heart. He makes friends as he grows up at the heart center who also have serious defects. They all become good friends and have many surgeries while they grow up. Soon things were going to get even more hard as they go through this journey of theirs. (Humanized)

Her parents take her straight to Cook Children's where her grandma (Dree Elle's mother) works as a pediatric neuro-oncologist and they knew her grandmother was concerned like they were. An MRI reveals a brain tumor. Hannah gets a biopsy done and it is revealed to be Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor a type of brain cancer. Hannah is ready to be brave and do a great job at fighting cancer with all her friends and family by her side. (Humanized)

Hot shot makes friends with four other kids his age with the same type of cancer who also just moved to town. They become the best of friends and decide to fight their cancer together. Heatwave and Quickshadow are a happily married couple. They have just moved from their comfy home in Maine to Fort Worth Texas. Since they were recently married they were looking forward to living their lives together in a new home. Heatwave works as a firefighter and Quickshadow works as pediatric oncologist at a local children's hospital. They have a very happy life there. Soon they have identical twin boys who they name Hot shot and Side swipe. They love Hot shot and Side swipe very much. Hot shot and Side swipe are very close as brothers. They are both growing into healthy children. In early September they turn five years old. Hot shot is highly active and playful. Side swipe is curious and clever. However after their birthday both Hot shot and Side swipe are feeling unwell. They both have headaches that won't go away, nausea with vomiting, feeling tired, stiff necks, and head tilts. Heatwave and Quickshadow are worried about their sons. So they take them both to Cook Children's hospital where Quickshadow works. At the ER of Cook Children's Hospital, the doctor there sends Hot shot and Side swipe to get tests done. Then after the tests both boys are diagnosed with Medulloblastoma a type of brain tumor that is brain cancer. Both Hot shot and Side swipe are brave and ready to fight their cancer head on. At the hospital they make friends with some kids their own age. They decide to fight their cancer together and become the best of friends. They are determined to kick cancer's butt! (Humanized.)
