Local investigator Henrich Mēris was reported missing after he did not return to the office the following morning. His coworker, Marie S. Fern, stated that their last conversation concerned an old, abandoned case involving the Vornyx Family-a case that had been long forgotten. Several months had passed without leads, and after many years, the case was considered cold. No one knew what transpired with Zelphira that day; however, Marie was aware that Henrich was eager to uncover the truth. He often expressed that he would never be audacious enough to venture to the outskirts of town in search of an abandoned estate. This location appeared deserted and was abandoned primarily because of its ominous reputation. The estate was especially avoided due to persistent rumours that bodies might still be left to decay on the premises. Despite these rumours, he was often dismissed as merely running away with his fiancée or being abducted, similar to numerous other recent missing persons cases. No one paid much attention to the disappearance of a young investigator believed to have fled with his lover. Nevertheless, his younger brother refused to accept these explanations, insisting that Henrich had fled his problems. The brother vehemently denied the possibility that Henrich might be dead or kidnapped, asserting that Henrich was determined to uncover the truth.
