Motivation

[edit]

The National Registry of Health Establishments (Brazilian Portuguese: Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos de Saúde) is a unique registry assigned to each health facility in Brazil, maintained by the Department of Information and Informatics of the Unified Health System of the Brazilian Ministry of Health. The data is structured in a way that is linked to geographic data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, allowing the identification of each health facility within the administrative and geographic divisions of Brazil. The National Registry of Health Establishments consolidates the registration of over 432 thousand health facilities, listing primarily establishments of the Public Unified Health System, and presenting a high degree of completeness and curation, with the data being an integral part of participatory management models and government transparency mechanisms.
