Strange merge
[edit]Hi,
Are you sure about the merge of Kithara 1 (Pauly-Wissowa) (Q20003726) (a text in an encyclopedia) and kithara (Q12634515) (a musical instrument) ?
Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 16:10, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi again,
- I unmerge the two items as it is two different concepts. The musical instrument is not published in (P1433) = Paulys Realenzyklopädie der klassischen Altertumswissenschaft (Q1138524) (while the Wikisource article is). In general, Wikipedia articles don't mix well this Wikisource texts.

Nutella
--ValterVB (talk) 21:01, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
Circular named after
[edit]Gi,
Right now, we have the following circular statements:
At least on the statement must be wrong, could you please take a look at it?

Contiene l'insieme...
[edit]Ciao! Ti invito a prendere visione di queste modifiche. L'argomento è un po' complesso, ma brevemente si può riassumere come segue:
- se B è un elemento di A, allora A has part(s) (P527) B
- se B è un sottinsieme di A, allora A has part(s) of the class (P2670) B

Can you create en:Template:Azerbaijani political parties in Italian Wikipedia?

[edit]Hi! I reverted your revert on this property. If you read the already existing constraints (that I didn't add), and the discussions, you will see this property is aimed at humans. There is some special cases which were discussed on the talk page of the property, but it would be absurd to restraint the suggestions based on very few cases which are stretching the aim of the property. I can't see any case were the new suggestion add a violation which was not already present with the other constraints (I mean, it adds a new violation warning but only on items which were already violating the constraints). Do you have examples where that's not the case? It's probably a question of modelling the data differently and I would be happy to help with that! --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 15:22, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Fruit preserves
[edit]Hi! You undid my edits on fruit preserves. What was wrong?--Wagner67 (talk) 19:03, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Problem is solved now. --Wagner67 (talk) 20:22, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
zithers.
[edit]Hi, I undid a few edits you did to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q76239
that is not about a specific zither but about generic zither instruments.
Further https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q19589438 is even higher up in generics, it's Hornbostel-Sachs 31
As it appears that German article is about *both* specific zither and generic zither, we must create an item with https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q21484471 in it, and then *another* item for this specific alphen zither . CatQuest, The Endavouring Cat (talk) 19:23, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
Mixup
[edit]Hi
Can you explain what you are trying to do at Q15706498? --- Jura 09:34, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
In response to your note on my talk page: "Hi! Jersey (Q15706498) was unuseful. We already have Jersey (Q785) that is the geographical object (the island) and Jersey (Q25686527) thas it the political object (the bailiwick). Jersey (Q15706498) was also referring to the island and had only the it.wiki item. Now I'm just moving properties that are political to Jersey (Q25686527)."
- Please don't repurpose Q785. It's not about the island. You should rather merge Q25686527. Links to cebwiki only is generally a sign that an item is malformed. --- Jura 09:51, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Why are you saying that Jersey (Q785) is not about the island? You can see several link with disambiguation or title "island" (gl:Illa_de_Jersey, hr:Jersey (otok), it:Isola di Jersey, kk:Джерси (арал), la:Caesarea insula, nl:Jersey (eiland), ro:Insula Jersey, ru:Джерси (остров), sh:Jersey (otok)).
- Moreover: Why are you speaking about cebwiki? I don't see any cebwiki link in both the items we are talking about.
- Generally speaking, it's common on Wikidata having two different objects for geographical item and political item. You can see for example: Western Sahara (Q6250) (geographical region) and Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Q40362) (State); Crimea (Q7835) (peninsula) and Republic of Crimea (Q15966495) (administrative division); Cyprus (Q644636) (island) and Cyprus (Q229) (State); and so on...
- --BohemianRhapsody (talk) 10:24, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Oh .. good point about cebwiki.
- Looking at the version before you edited it ( https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q785&oldid=1127778860 ) it seems fairly obvious that most statements, English label, alias and descriptions, most incoming links at Wikidata were about the Bailiwick.
- It happens that sitelinks are added to incorrect items. The solution is to just move them.
- Q25230 is fairly clear. Please respond here. --- Jura 10:37, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: I don't understand your point. Guernsey is in fact fairly clear: we have Guernsey (Q3311985) for the island and Guernsey (Q25230) for the political object. Why can't we have the same for Jersey? --BohemianRhapsody (talk) 13:35, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Well, we did. Jersey (Q15706498) for the island and Jersey (Q785) for the Bailiwick. Please one or more duplicates (but that's another problem). --- Jura 13:38, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

- @Jura1: No, it wasn't this way. Many link in Jersey (Q785) are still referring to the island. And, in addition to the two items you mentioned, we have in fact also Jersey (Q25686527), that is the Bailiwick, so there is still a lot of work to do. I think that the other way (as a I did first this morning) was better. But never mind, I will use Jersey (Q15706498) for the island and Jersey (Q785) for the Bailiwick and I will fix the problems. --BohemianRhapsody (talk) 13:48, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Q25686527 was created after the others .. and Q785#P31 is fairly clear. Anyways, thanks for doing that. --- Jura 13:52, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

BohemianRhapsody , this is not your first time to incorrectly repurpose Q entry. Please stop any merge of entries unless they are really overlap. Matthew hk (talk) 08:45, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi! What you are referring to? In the case of Jersey, I and Jura eventually agreed on the way of treating the case. If you have any other precise case to report, please let me know. --BohemianRhapsody (talk) 08:56, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Please don't merge Q entries for A.S Siracusa, U.S. Siracusa and A.S.D. Siracusa or other teams that not a legal successor of one or another . Ideally, teams with new PIVA should have their own Q entry in wikidata. Matthew hk (talk) 08:59, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Matthew hk: I don't remember exactly the reason of my edits on Siracusa, but are you sure that having different Q entries is correct? Maybe it's better to open a discussion on it (or, if it has happened, please link it to me). We are basically speaking of the same football team, despite of his legal form changing over the years. Legal form changing can easily managed using properties and qualifiers. You can see it:Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Siracusa on it.wiki, a single page referring to the whole story of the team, from 1924 until today. If we decided by policy to split teams in different Q entries, there will be several (several!) cases to handle and I'm afraid it will be a complete mess. --BohemianRhapsody (talk) 09:12, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Please don't bring the mess from it-wiki to wikidata. In specific, U.S. Siracusa is a team that renamed from U.S. Aldo Marcozzi 1956, so it is not the same team as A.S. Siracusa. "U.S. Aldo Marcozzi 1956" and "U.S. Siracusa" shared the same P.IVA but not sharing the same P.IVA with A.S. Siracusa. Matthew hk (talk) 09:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- In wikidata, each edition of book that have different ISBN has their own entry. Please don't apply policy from other wiki to wikidata, thanks. Matthew hk (talk) 09:30, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
Metropolitan Municipalities in Turkey
[edit]This is about metropolitan municipality in Turkey (Q2716259) where you added back subclass of (P279) to first-level administrative division (Q10864048) on April 8, 2020. I understand your reasoning and I agree that metropolitan municipality in Turkey (Q2716259) is a first level admin. But isn't it cleaner to instead make a subclass of (P279) link from metropolitan municipality in Turkey (Q2716259) to province of Turkey (Q48336)? Saying this because every one of the 30 Turkish metropolitan municipalities is a Turkish province. 51 traditional provinces + 30 metropolitan municipalities = 81. And then we also need to clean up:
- Istanbul Province (Q534799) with its links because it is NOT a first level admin anymore since 1984. Can't have both.
- 57 incoming instance of (P31) links into metropolitan municipality in Turkey (Q2716259). Should only be 30.
What do you think? Greetings, Egermundson (talk) 18:34, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

Intermediate level Q60331391
[edit]Hi BH,
do we really need the intermediate item of commercial brown sugar (Q60331391) between brown sugar (Q11190742) and finished products like Cassonade Graeffe?--ຜູ້ນໍາ (talk) 18:24, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
merging objects - preferred procedure?
[edit]Thank you very much for merging several objects where I found out they were duplicate and noted that in the object's talk section. Is there any other preferred procedure (e.g. entering in a list) or is leaving an entry in the talk section just fine? I don't have any clue how admins search for duplicate entries or if they will notice talk entries etc. I skimmed through Help:Merge, but it looks a bit complicated and prone to damage something if done wrong. I'm a bit worried that my wikidata knowledge is too limited for this kind of work (I've been doing limited wikidata editing since 2020). But I'd simply like to make admins' work easier and support them whereever I can. --Kuhni74 (talk) 15:28, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Strange merge
[edit]Hi BohemianRhapsody, why did you merge "trade union movement" (Q59243156) with syndicalism (Q49780)? The new item is now a conflation with two GND ID (P227). In enWP en:trade union movement → labour movement (Q208701). --Kolja21 (talk) 19:04, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
Call for participation in a task-based online experiment
[edit]Dear BohemianRhapsody
I hope you are doing well,
I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I am working on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender model that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.
I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our model based on your previous edits.
Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published in a research venue.
The experiment should take no more than 15 minutes, and it will be held next week.
If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfA1wfdBfCRlcG3WhDyc-V8lzgPNx3fDFCNXkyn4CSwahXZ_A/viewform?usp=sf_link
Then, I will contact you with the link to start the study.
For more information about my project, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa
In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.
Thank you for considering taking part in this research.
Regards Kholoudsaa (talk) 22:10, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
