- Monkey beetle (Q3217731) with Hopliini (Q4503536) Not sure why the Rutelinae field is stuck here, cannot delete it, and it seems to be duplicated in Rutelinae (Q1613201). JMK (talk) 16:20, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

I'm curious why have you created a new item for template instead of restoring one merged by error? --Infovarius (talk) 09:44, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Delusion! Wandering around all Wikimedia projects, I also found /doku used on nds-nlwiki (here for example) and user DixonD explained me that Ukrainian Wikipedia also uses /документація for documentation subpages, /пісочниця for sandboxes and /тести for testcases (here's the full discussion). Would you please be so kind to add them to the filter? Thank you, have a good day. — TintoMeches, 00:00, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Done Just to give credit where it's due, Matěj Suchánek created the filter, not me :D I've added doku, пісочниця and тести to the filter. документація was already present in the filter. Thanks for making new suggestions to be added. Del♉sion23 (talk) 00:12, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks about that. I've just another question: how does the filter work? I tried to create this item for a test and I added a couple of wikilinks, but I didn't see any tag or notice telling me I'm doing something wrong... — TintoMeches, 15:43, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- I have asked Matěj to check. Thanks for testing the filter. Del♉sion23 (talk) 15:50, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- @TintoMeches: I tested the filter on your edits and
article_articleid == 0
was the bad condition. Therefore I removed it from the filter. I appreciate that you made such test.At the moment, the filter is only checking edits which created an item (the first edit of an item). For example, when you click on "add links" in Wikipedia and connect such two pages, the filter catches this. I appreciate that you remarked and tested this. I will probably removeMatěj Suchánek (talk) 16:27, 8 February 2014 (UTC)article_articleid == 0
if I don't find any possible issues. One possible issue is that it could also check edits of some relevant templates where an invalid link could be.- @Matěj Suchánek: it works! Thanks a lot! Last question/proposal: can you add a tag so that users may notice it and understand not to do add them? — TintoMeches, 17:41, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, it seems it's working well, so tag and later warning can be added. If you see false positive catch, ping me or another admin. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 17:50, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Taxa
[edit]Hi Delusion23, sorry but I have to ask: has you any knowledge about them? Brya reverted a lot of your „improvements”. And so did I. --Succu (talk) 22:29, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- I agree with your changes to Q217549 and Q12294232, Succu. They were confusing ones. Perhaps you can also help at Q143870? With regards to the ones reverted by Brya, I was changing the "taxon name" so that they would link to the right Wikispecies page. I'm always happy to learn if I'm making mistakes. I'm usually just working through taxon 225 violations at User:Delusion23/Taxon 225 violations. Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:36, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- wood wasp (Q143870): Cited from enwiki „The term wood wasp is a colloquial name applied to various unrelated families of Symphyta”. So whats your solution? You extendend lots of taxon name (P225) with additions in parentheses to clarify the name (constaint). These are not vailid --Succu (talk) 22:54, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I have now seen that the correct thing to do is to add it to the exemptions at "unique value" Property talk:P225. I'll do this instead in the future. With regards to wood wasp I suppose it should be listed as a colloquial name rather than a taxon. Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:57, 17 February 2014 (UTC)
- Please, add such exeptions to this List too. --Succu (talk)
- Done. I'll make sure I do so in the future. Cheers. Del♉sion23 (talk) 23:29, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

- A good point about the link to Wikispecies. Obviously this was not the way to repair this, but perhaps there can be a workaround? If need be, a new property could be created. - Brya (talk) 06:44, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
- I suppose it won't really matter once Wikispecies is fully integrated into Wikidata. Unfortunately the project seems to be low in priority. Del♉sion23 (talk) 22:30, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Question on filter
[edit]Hi! Now I am the one who asks. Filter 14 catches P107 with bad values and filter 28 catches adding P107. So could we stop the filter 14? It's better to know someone's opinion. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 15:48, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

A new filter
[edit]Hi! Just letting you know that I created a new filter which is supposed to catch adding links to userpages. It needs to be expanded and I will expand the filter to also catch creating such item with the links. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 17:46, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
P.S.: In the notes, I wrote "from start"... is it correct? When I asked my dictionary, it said "ab ovo". Strange.
- Hey, good work :) Perhaps you mean "from item creation"? Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:51, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
March 2014
[edit]Hello! You left on my talk page that I deleted the language links, leaving no other. The problem is that the site, which is referred to an article in Wikipedia, is no longer valid, so the members of some language sections renamed articles "allrovi" on "allmovie", while leaving the redirection. I, if possible, eliminated this problem, but since I'm not well-versed in Wikidata, I may have missed something out of sight. You know, with these articles so much confusion… --Mattmiller3 (talk) 12:05, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've merged them all to the same item as it appears that they all refer to the same thing but many Wikipedia pages haven't been renamed yet. But that isn't Wikidata's problem, it's a problem with the Wikipedias. Wikidata simply holds the links so that all the different languages are connected. Cheers! Del♉sion23 (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Q644636 vs Q229
[edit]Dear Delusion23,
I did delete taht page since I think its a duplicate entry with Q229. Once I had deleted it, I found out that anyway I could not add the Q229 entry to the "Zypern" entry in de. wikipedia.org.
Since the subject "Cyprus" might be somewhat contentious between greek and turkish positions, this could be a reason for the existence of double entries. However: the Q229 seems for me to be the "real" one for Cyprus, and should be the one controlling the "other languages" list in de.wikipedia.org for this article.
I have to admit that do not fully understand this mechanism, and will refrain from fiddling with it before I do. Sorry and thanks for your help in advance!

Please, restore items RKDartists (Q17299517) and RKDimages (Q17299580)
[edit]Please, restore items RKDartists (Q17299517) and RKDimages (Q17299580). From my point of view they are notable enough because Wikidata have properties RKDartists ID (P650) and RKDimages ID (P350) that create link between databases described in RKDartists (Q17299517) and RKDimages (Q17299580) and other wikidata items. It is very strange if database is not notable, but Wikidata has properties linked to such database. Those items used by gadget to correctly translate those database labels in different languages. And if we are talking about notability from Wikidata point of view, there are some sources like [2], [3], [4], [5], that describes those items and can be used to proof notability. -- Vlsergey (talk) 10:47, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

- I have restored them so that you can use them in items. This will make them pass WD:N. We have an incredibly low threshold for notability here. Del♉sion23 (talk) 17:08, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you. "We have an incredibly low threshold for notability here": I don't agree. I'm tyding up Wikidata:Database reports/Constraint violations/P484, "Single value" violations and "Unique value" violations, at least I'm trying. It is difficult to know what was done, at least for me. Wikidata needs references, references need author (P50) and property author needs items. 'The IMA List of Minerals', rruff.info, mindat.org and mineralienatlas.de rely on "voluntary" work and have mistakes; original references are needed. People turn chief curators and full professors with 45-50 years. You need a PhD, a post-doc, a assistant professor, to qualify as university lecturer, a full professor and an appoitment as country representative at the International Mineralogical Association. This all is a lot of work, at least a 50 cm high pile of scientific publications. This is notable enough for Wikidata, an item of a person doesn't need a lot of memory space. Regards --Chris.urs-o (talk) 04:19, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Since you asked...
[edit]When I find more wrongly linked places, rather than doing them myself, I'll ask you to do them, so you can remove all the bot-created properties that may or may not apply any more. For some reason, some bot or people at the fa wiki have decided to link articles on Fooville, Foostate to Fooville on the en wiki which is a dab page in the en wiki and causes much confusion as someone else on the sr wiki and sh wiki seems to have copied many of the erroneous links. And periodically, I find that Fooville, Foostate on fa wiki links to Fooville, Someotherstate on kk wiki and both are linked to the Fooville dab page in English. While my Serbian is pretty good as is my Farsi, my Kazakh is virtually non-existent (except for Turkish cognates which I can usually get) - God help us for the Thai & Vietnamese links, which are basically only phonetically linkable. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 22:43, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, it does appear to be an issue that is common to fa.wiki links. On Wikidata the correct course of action is to remove the links and then place them into the correct item. I'd be happy to help you do this. If you need any help with translating vi or th, the chrome browser has a built in translator (i use this regularly in my Wikidata work) and Google translate can also translate these languages quite well. Cheers. Del♉sion23 (talk) 16:35, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

- I simply went to Q8063502 where the English link is located, then click "add" in the "Wikipedia pages linked to this item" section. Then in the site box I put "fawiki", then I paste the Farsi page name you give me into the page box. Then I click save. This should work for you. Del♉sion23 (talk) 18:10, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
