The Subconscious Lou Oma

Author: Trey Johnson

On March 13th, 2026, Lou Oma released her debut album, Enfold. A recent graduate from Loyola, a prestigious music school in New Orleans, Lou Oma has situated herself in conversation among many of the exciting new artists breaking through in the singer-songwriter scene. Enfold was accompanied by two previously released singles, each with their own music video, and the album itself offers an exploration into their mind, filled with stories and experiences that are tackled with witty storytelling a

Midsummer Motel Stuns with Full-Album Performance

Author: Alyssa Madsen

Indie shoegaze band Midsummer Motel, took the crowd by surprise when they announced on stage they would perform their debut album Beat the Horse in its entirety at Vinyl on March 7. At that moment, the night went from a rock show to an artistic performance. I was feeling pretty warmed up from the earlier  bands, Estimated Principles from Augusta and Nocturne’s Kiss from Atlanta with their thrashing guitars and upbeat rhythms. Midsummer Motel slowed down the night for everyone to truly savor it.

"early life crisis" Album Review

Author: Robin Dong

Nettspend’s debut album has its moments, but they’re not enough to rescue it from an overwhelming sense of dullness. Since his arrival onto the scene in 2023 with his single “Drankdrankdrank,” Nettspend has been one of rap’s most polarizing figures. That image, if we’re being honest, is off-putting; it reads more like cosplay than authent

Author: Grace Osborn

Last Thursday, up and coming Indietronica band Cootie Catcher made a stop on their longest tour to date at WREK’s own event! They were joined by Hillview #73, Mood Room, and Strumbrush at the Masquerade’s Purgatory stage.  Hillview #73 started off the night with noisy guitar blended with soft vocals. They had a clear unity in their stage presence that made them great to watch. Mood Room followed with a bit deeper and darker sound, showcasing lush, mesmerizing melodies. Next, Atlanta sensation S

Wieuca Brings the House Down at Star Bar, Teases Upcoming Album

Author: Alyssa Madsen

On February 27, the Star Community Bar in Little 5 Points hosted a night full of acts that unleashed the crowd's wild side, headlined by Wieuca. It was my first time at this venue, and my immediate thought was that it was a smaller, cozier version of Athens’ 40 Watt Club. With four punk rock bands on the bill, the evening promised fans of the genre authenticity and an anti-establishment attitude. As concertgoers trickled in, the show opened with the first band of the night, Cascadent. Their sou
